500hp from a 460 is cake , what ompeller are you currently running , what year is the motor you have , what carb is on it now ???
with a big ford you can easily make 700 on pump gas with a single 4 barrel

[im running the dove-c cast iron heads 70s vintage with heavy porting . if i were you id find a complete 73 or older motor the have adjustable valve trians and the block casting is much thicker . run a cam in the 240-250 duration area the intake and carb that you were thinking of forged pistons , i use the trw dome tops and have the domes milled off it works out to be 10.5 to 11.1 area on compression depending on how much you mill the heads, always use full groove main bearings and rod bearing youll have killer oil pressure , with an a impeller mine spins 6400rpm but the cam i have and carb are bigger than im recomending

Napper ,going to the DOVE-C heads is a good step, with flat top pistons you'll get 9.3:1 comp[good for pumpgas],defenately go with forged pistons of your choice,I recommend the Ford Mosports A443 cam,Holleys 850 vac sec marine carb, and last, make sure to chamfer the oil holes on your crank for bottom end lubrication, with a high volume oil pump.
