San Diego is the same-$85-100 a yard for pea gravel. I just poured my garage yesterday out here in TN and the 3000psi boom pump mix was $62.50...with 1/2 micro fiber. Does that help??? :hammerhea :hammerhea

The market price in northern Arizona is running about 100-120 bucks a yard for 4000 psi mix design concrete, delivered.

There is a nationwide shortage of concrete. Some kilns went down in the west. They placed a tarriff on Mexican concrete so they wouldn't "flood" the market. And the Chinese are buying up everything they can for their own infrastructure efforts. Result? Concrete shortage nationwide.
The big boys have been working on it for months now, trying to keep it under control. But even large concrete buyers are getting shorted. I am getting a full order only over multiple days. :hammer2: :hammer2:

pea gravel in TN is $65.50 a yard. The powder shortage is pretty real tho its stablized since the middle of the year when it was at its worst. I think the worst is yet to come tho. Even my Uncle that owns Superior Ready Mix in CA and does 100's of million of dollars a year, and Mitsubishi is LLP with him, he even has a hard time getting powder this year.

Call Scott Peterson (he's up in Redwood City). I hear he has some concrete left over from an anchor-making project he was working on.

Been a long week but I think I can still do the math. 2.50/squarefoot sounds expensive to me. That works out to $202/yard. So they making 100/yard for pouring a simple patio. This is assuming you are pouring a 4" thick patio. If you are going 6" thick it works out a little better somewhere around 140 or 150/yard installed. That still sounds steep if you are just getting a simple patio and sidewalk.

It's going to be with full footings, rebar, cased bolts for the stancions, etc. in case I (or someone down the line) wants to enclose it for another room or three. Also includes excavation, grading and leveling.

Paying 2.50/ sq. ft. in Ca. for all of that would be like getting it for free. Trust me, you are not getting ripped off unless the workmanship is poor. I have had a bunch of flatwork in Havasu done for 2-3 bucks / sq. ft. and have been very happy with the bang for the buck so to speak.

does he also own escondido ready mix??
Yes, Its all the same company. They leave Escondido Ready Mix's name like it is because its been around forever and the homeowners are used to the name. The Superior name came about when the Mit Corp partnered up. Its quite a company.

I always tell all my customers the same thing. You get what you pay. Our rates for a 3 color job are from $8-15sf. Its the best in San Diego. If anyone needs a person to do any work just let me know and I will hook you up...just like Roz and a few others. As posted before, the sudden rise in concrete prices is due to China buying up all of the concrete at tripple the going rate, which would put it at roughly $100/yd They are building what will be the worlds largest man made dam. These prices will continuing through Spring/Summer 2005. to be honest, the aggregate companies in the US are having a hell of a time getting enough concrete to operate. I work for Hanson Aggregates, they did their homework ahead of time and prepared for this . Other comapnies nation wide were not so lucky.

They just upped my price for 560C3250 to 80 a yard. A month ago I had to schedule two weeks in advance, I just scheduled for every day. I'm not having a prob getting it now, just the price is up. China is keeping it all for themselves right now.
