Tunnels ride pretty well, since so little of them is actually in the water. OB's make great power to weight ratio too. :)

A small fast O/B tunnel is a fun boat. If I lived in Havasu and boated during the week when there was not much traffic I might think about downsizing even further. Maybe a 21 Skater or an STV....

welcome to the darkside.
I upgraded years ago from the same thing, 3 boats since then (21, 22 & 25 cats)... at first you feel all dirty inside but that feeling wears off after the first 2 minutes, when you realize how smooth and steady the cat is. ;) ;)
If you still want that small boat feeling, keep an eye out for a 21' cat. Low freeboard, tunnel/cat style bottom. :crossx:
I had a 21' daytona with big motor (540) & jet. It was really fun cuz it had low freeboard feel and fast accelaration. If you put a blower motor in one, its even more fun. :crossx:
the bigger boats are smoother in rough water but also more expensive. I/O's are much better on gas. It all depends on what you want.
older used 21 (hull only) $10-20K. Bigger boat (newer)=arm + leg.

Single outboard on a 21ft boat @ 115mph??? Are you sure that's right?? I'm not sure a Merc drag motor could push a 21ft'r to 115mph. Had a 22 DCB w/300 and it barely crested 80mph. That's amazing if that's a real number.

I was thinking the same thing "X".... if it had twin drag's, then yes. the best I ever saw was 91 with a 300x in a MACH22. maybe he has an old school water pick-up speedo?? EITHER WAY...90, 100, its all good! Now he's seeing why we pay through the BuTT for insurance

I thought the cats with OB's were alot cheaper than high HP I/O's . Am i wrong?
