How long ago did you put your number on the list? I found that it takes a month or two for everyone to get the updated list but my experience is that it really works. I'm not getting called at all anymore, it even worked for the fax line as I used to get a bunch of junk faxes, but not anymore.

wish that were true, to be honest, thats how they make any money at all, they are not going to fold the business by stopping the calls. I am not sure how they manage to get around it, but they somehow do.

From the website:
Q: If I register my number on the National Do Not Call Registry, will it stop all telemarketing calls?
A: No. Placing your number on the National Do Not Call Registry will stop most, but not all, telemarketing calls. You may still receive calls from political organizations, charities, telephone surveyors or companies with which you have an existing business relationship.
I was still getting calls from Citibank trying to sell me crap I didn't(who I have a credit card with so they would be exempt from the law) and I just asked them to quit calling me and they did. I still get an occasional call from the Fraternal Order of Police or Police Benevolence Society or somesuch like that and I'm guessing they are exempt under the charity loophole

Telemarketers have a better chance of breaking into Fort Knox than getting ME to answer one of their calls. We have caller ID, and just plain don't answer any calls from callers we don't recognize. We also have Call Intercept so if the caller doesn't give us caller ID info, the phone system intercepts them, and makes them speak their name, then it calls us and we get to hear the name and decide if we want the call to come through or get rejected. Technology can be our friend. :)

As soon as I tell them we are on the list they appologise and hang up.
You can go to the website and list the companies and their phone numbers if they call you. I think they have to pay a fine or something.
If you have donated in the past, they can call you. :2purples:
The police that call I thought that was a scam?!? :hammerhea

Ask the name of the company that is calling (telemarketer/non profit etc) and tell them to remove you from their list. If you get called from the same org after 30 days you can sue in small claims court here in California for i think $1000. There is a guy in SoCal, Acton I think that has been on TV making some change on this.

I'll take that trip if you don't want it. I don't get these. They don't tend to call hotels much and they don't leave messages. I don't even know my home #. That is what 2 cell phones and office and a fax # is for. My e-mails more than make up for the lack of calls to the house though.
