[460 jus getn it]

im trying to get my mds disdributer in but it wont sit all the way down. is there a trick or am i missing something. i have a bbf 460, :confused: :confused:

It sounds a though you have the cam gear engaged, but still need to align the oil pump drive shaft. If you slowly turn the motor over the dist will turn with the cam gear and, when aligned, the dist will fall down onto the oil pump shaft. As long as the dist and cam are engaged the timing won't be changed and after the oil deal is engaged you can backup the motor or continue around to the #1 position. I think Ford is still using a hex shaft in the oil pump, so it should engage quickly as everything else rotates.....MP

And after all that, if it still won't sit all the way down it means it's bottomed out on the drive and the housing needs to be shimmed up!..
