is the alpha SS that much better then the normal alpha would it be worth 2000 to put it behind a modified small block with about 450 hp or just stick with the stock alpha

If you can find one hold on to it. They are worth their weight in Gold.
Sell it and buy a Bravo.
I ran an Alpha SS for nearly 10 years with 635 ft/lbs torque and 575 HP B&M blown small block. No hole shots and going 35 or so before hitting it.

If you can get an ALPHA to hold the HP you have now then an SS would probably help a lot.
I used to have one but could break it at will.
I had it in front of a SBF 302 putting out 500+ HP.
The SS is 2 1/2 inches shorter than the stock alpha.
If you go to a bravo you will slow down because of the larger bullit and the extra weight.

We have a alpha ss in peices in our shop. Driveshaft broke the splines off and tore up gears. Will sell as parts or repair and sell as whole unit, need one?? Cases are good and thats the hard parts to find merc still has the other parts available, standard alpha stuff except shorter driveshaft. Boat it was on was 177 blown 454 mag around 585hp held up real good if the nut drivin it would keep it in the water?!
