you guys have made a joke out of the point system.
How can you have any pride at all in your rep points when you beg for them like a homeless bum begs for a dollar ?
It doesn't make any sense to me to beg for credit or reputation as we have here when it's not deserved.
rep points should be earned .
I know there will be a few sore toes after this is read and I expect the guiltiest feeling members to be the first to step up and hit me with the anonomous red stab in the back .
I dont know what's worse ., the Beaumont Brady bunch or the point begging bums. :rolleyes:
so what I'm saying in short is stop begging and start earning .

I can't say I disagree. I really don't pay much attention to them. If people don't like your post, they usually let you know without "rep points" You used to be able to give people stars on here once upon a time. And people either had 5 gold stars, or less. I don't remember exactly how it worked. But I'm sure someone here does.

They made a joke out of all of us when they added this feature. I know I could care less if I had 0 or 1,000,000. You can tell without the points who's a bone head and who you would hang with.

You start with 0 and you could get between 1 and 5 from anyone who rated you. It just so happened that alot of people just gave me 1. I think I worked up to 3. :skull:

It would make alot more sense if the points actually had a benefit---like redeeming them for HB shirts or stickers...or maybe the magazine I heard they have :p
I give as freely as it allows to nice people, never given a red and probably never will...I just ain't that way. :cool:

Sometimes it's nice to just appreciate folks just cuz of who they are and not specifically for any thing they've done or deserve. I like giving away the greens on a whim. :D I like playing favorites. Happens you're one of my favorites, C.T. so I'm gonna be hitting you with green whenever I feel like it (whenever the system lets me :rolleyes: ) and you can't stop me! :p :D

There are two simple ways to improve the Hot Boat Forum sites. Two simple things:
1. Eliminate post count
2. Eliminate rep points
I've been on many forums and I've never seen other sites with both of these features (most sites have neither). The reason should be obvious as the result of these features is the situation we have on this site now.
Once the post counter is gone post w horing goes way down - it's basically eliminated and people post because they actually have SOMETHING TO SAY/CONTRIBUTE.
And without the rep points most of the childish behavior goes away. :jawdrop:
Aw, maybe I'm just too old for this stuff but between the Beaumont stuff, the post w horing and the rep points (and all the newbies begging for points) this place has changed for the worse. :frown:

The forum would be dead. Just like you have seen, they eliminated the post
count on one of the other forums I post on. All posting went way down.
So far down it's now a dead forum.
I personally like the post count. It's like a gauge, it gives you some kind of
idea how much a person does or doesn't have to say.

MMDAN, I've been on different forums too, serious ones, racing , boating (HAVASU BARNEY) this one is alot more fun..besides work doesn't allow Barney style forums anymore :cry: I know you don't like points, I know you don't like Beaumont, and I'm sure there's people out there who don't like you, BUT THE REST OF US ARE HAVING FUN, you don't have to read the treads, just skip past them ...there's got to be something on this site for you to enjoy...

There's no telling . I've managed to get a couple from this thread myself but I expected it . what reallyrips is that they have the balls to give ya a red one but not enough courage to sign it . I've never given a red one but if I ever do I will sign it ,
