Well, first full season of 'High Performance' boating, and first outdrive casualty.
Here's what I know. Stock '95 vintage Bravo I, probably never been apart, doesn't last long behind 750-800 hp!
Thinking about a used BMAX. I've got a line on one in my area. Heard there might be some issues with heat treating on the shafts of the new ones (this years). Anyone got any suggesions??
Thanks!

Buy a #6 and you won't have to worry about it, If not Max Works has a good drive but you can still break them .. :hammerhea Good luck

I would either go Teague or with Max Machine. I have heard of way to many b-max problems.
Max Machine has a oustanding reputation on this board and others.

Im convinced that the Bravo one has been mercury's greatest money making product ever. Think about all the parts that get sold after the drive. We should all be as lucky as Brunswick to own a company that designs their products to break in today's hi performance boating world for profit.
They need to get engineers to design their products, not accountents!!!!

I have 2 B Max drives for sale. Both were just rebuilt by Bad Attitude, the B Max dealer in Arizona. I will consider splitting them.
PM me if you are interested.

Mercury is making a killing more so than even Haliburton!
Teague, Imco and other all use Mercury parts. Teague basically puts a sticker on everthing and calls it his own. Imco is making a killing but they too are dependant upon Merc for parts in their drive units.
Even when the aftermarket guys make something that they call their own, Merc wins.

Boat is running great. Did not fail me all year!
Yup sold the Parker home last month for asking price!
We are preparing to start building a new home in Havasu.
Still interested in your new drive when it is ready.
Take care,
Don

I would recommend going away from the B-Max. They eat a ton of horse poewr and I have had nothing but problems with them on my boat. I have heard very good thigns about Max Machine works drive and I would rather have gone that route.
Good luck,
