I was just going through some pictures from Ming a number of years back, and found some good pics of a couple of Placecraft Blown Fuel Jets, one called Hydro-Phobia, number 014, and the other is yellow with thin silver and red stripes but I can't see the name or number. The third boat is a strange looking BFJ (all three capsule boats) with a preculiar looking step at the transom and very different center pod entry. Just curious if anyone knows about these boats and where they are today.

It was a cee bee v-drive that I think used to be an out board - it looked like a shovel nose hydro with a little bit of a different bottom.

just guessing, i would say the first one is a placecraft, early model, due to the depth and location of the sponsons.
i'd guess the second boat (yellow) is a southwind with a cut pod for the valve, again due to the sponson location and depth (even though it says place on the transom).
third boat is a later model placecraft, for the same reasons; depth and location of the sponsons relative to the center pod.
these are just guesses, and any of them could be splashes of the original.

I agree with bp, but that last one is a little strange.
Isn't the green one Donnie LeBon's old boat?
Cool pics Steel, have any more?

JimFirst race boat I co piloted on was not much bigger then that.
14' Allen with a 58A mercury and we would run that thing 51MPH both my Brother and I, sitting with our butts hanging over the transom and holding on to the motor with K Pok Life Jackets on. Old Long Beach Golden, Circle Races
first sunday of each month and on KTLA TV with Dick Lane. We also ran the Catalina Race with the thing- Was not too smart even then.
