If were going to do that I would switch to alky. Nitrous and blowers seem like a time bomb.

If you are after 25 hp why not make a pulley change?

I would think this has kaboom written all over it. As I understand it, N2O with forced induction is far less efficient, but if you REALLY want to try it, why not a port injected fogger setup?

It sounds to me like you're looking for some cooling effect... what about an alcohol injection. Much cheaper then a nitros setup. I have thought about the small shot of N20 myself for cooling purposes. if you try it, post how it worked .. R.B.

There are several board members who run nitrous on 1471 or quad rotor motors. With great success I might add. Robbie racer recently took his boat from 127 to 138 mph on Hooky day. Rock-it Man has run 141 and change on quad/nitrous setup. Hulshot ran his 1471 motor well into the 120's in his old Howard. Setup is crucial, but good for 10-12 mph gain on max effort passes. Granted you can't run a poker run with the button down :D On an outdrive setup, you run an adjustable controller to bring nitrous in gradually so as not to blow drive. Here is a pic. of Robbie Racer's plumbing on his 3 carb. 1471....http://www.***boat.com/image_center/data/504/1231DSC00567.jpg

I don't have any other pictures of his boat other than a transom shot. (It's on another post in hot spots west) I have not personally done the nitrous/blower combination, so I can't give you specific setup specs. It is mainly for top speed runs, not everyday boating. You have to stop and change props so you don't over-rev., and if you're running lots of boost a pulley change would be in order. Also timing retard, extra fuel etc., along with the progressive controller.

Ive heard that nitrous works well with a blower cause it cools the intake charge. Read this.

They did it in drag raceing for years befor NHRA ban it . It was used more for cooling tha just as a power adder , Bernstein and Dale Armstrong used it in there funny car with great succes :D . When Prudhome was fast his tuner Bob Brant used it , Garlits used it . I think you will be fine as long as you have the fuel correct for the volume of nitrous just as if it were asperated.

I dig the triple carb adapter.

I take it that the 25hp is a typo. But if you are just looking for a small shot I'd use a plate type of deal under each carb. I had 8 Nitrous Express Nozzels on mine and with the thing set to 200hp the gas would just dribble out. Would have been better with less nozzels or a smaller spray bar. Of course I jacked it up to 300hp tune up and it atomised the fuel much better. Thing was a monster on the bottle.

Here is just the plate deal I fabed up.

superdave - That's a nice looking plate you fabricated ... How did you determine its height/volume?

Didn't think it mattered under an injector hat. To tell the truth my main focus was to do it with out altering any of the hard lines on the injector. It seemed to work out ok as off the bottle it would not pull a 37 gear and on the bottle a 40 seemed kinda short.

SD, thats a pretty trick setup. What did you make the solenoid bracket out of?

SuperDave- Did you run timing retard or back off on the boost when using nitrous? Just curious on what tune up is used on these setups.
Sweeeet motor by the way, :D I need to develop some fabrication skills. What kind of speeds or e.t. you run with that thing?

Nope, blower stayed at 30% over and timming was locked at 32. Now I did run VP-C16 fuel and never stayed on the bottle very long.
Never ran it at the track on nitrous. It would run 8.20's @ 128 on just the motor. It really felt like it picked up like a MOTHER on but I can't give #'s. It broke the Lenco and that was the straw that got me to sell the boat. Good thing I sold it before I hurt myself. I was asking for it for sure.
I still have the engine but sold the nitrous system on e bay awhile back. It's now on a Willys with a straight axle front end all Gasser Style. If and when I do anything with the rest it will be on alki. Might end up in a Liberty jet boat to go out and spank a few other board members. :D (lets see who picks up on that one)

I run Nos on my blower motor, I bought the system that Holley makes for blowers, it comes jetted for a 175 hp shot, i was running 10 lbs boost(tall deck 454 030 over, 1071 wiend, 2 gary williams 850 carbs) AAstainless with inducer 5900 rpms off the Nos, 6400 rpms on the juice and made 1lb more of boost= 104 mph in 1000 ft and have had no problems, have just upgraded to a 300 hp shot and just bought the MSD programable timing computer with boost port, am going to hook up to the laptop tomrrow and get started figuring it out, instructions say it will set running curve ,start retard, boost retard and retard for Nos shot, any one here had any dealings with this unit?

I think I prefer superdave's setup better rather than having the individual injectors enter the plate seperately.

Yea it was a pain in the butt to change jets in the plate, no clearance to remove fittings so you have to remove carbs and carb adapter plate to change jets. But it does a good job and is clean looking.
