How does it handle the chop? I have the 19ft stealth and recently got to drive a 21ft daytona tunnel. It handle the rough water sooo much better.

Was that an aluminum impeller with that motor? What's up? Jill

revndave
11-01-2004, 08:55 PM
No
Its a bronze impeller.David

Mrs CP 19
11-01-2004, 08:58 PM
Well, how much HP do you have?

revndave
11-01-2004, 08:59 PM
About 1100hp.Well be dynoing it as soon as a spot opens up.

TRG
11-01-2004, 09:02 PM
so....thats what happens when you unload an imp. at high rpm's?

Mrs CP 19
11-01-2004, 09:03 PM
Then you should be running stainless...that top pic sure looked aluminum. If you have that HP, you have to go stainless. Bronze good up to about 900.
AND you should be running an AQ shaft I think...need to check with the better half!

revndave
11-01-2004, 09:06 PM
Ive ran bronze before and no problem.I know of some blown gas jets that run bronze.Next one will be stainless.

Mrs CP 19
11-01-2004, 09:11 PM
Good luck...sorry you had the problem..Some good damage there! Jill

I thought it was a wear ring rattling.I was kinda pumped when I found out it was the impeller.Motor that break stuff is kinda cool.

Berkeley suction,Aggressor impeller and bowl.Ran good for 4 years.I just overdrived the blower 6% more and put a hat on it.

Hi Jill, hows it going? You guys coming out to the races this weekend in Bakersfield? Would be nice to see you guys out there. Hope all is well.
Sounds like Dave has it pretty well figured out why it failed. Id look into a high quality SS impeller.
Good luck Dave, thanks for keeping us posted with pics and everything, let us know what you replace it with, pics are always nice too.
Thanks.

Tom and I will decide that tomorrow. It was an b/c.I think we'll try a 2a.Mikes boat ran better with a big impeller.I dont like turning 7000+

Damn! I wish we could have got that BC out of there before it grenaded, Im looking for a STD. untouched aggressor bc or c to test this weekend.
I agree Dave, 7k is a litlle excessive.
See ya.

11-01-2004, 10:23 PM
Dave,
Was that boat setup with a blocker in the loader? As far as Impellers, Dyno the motor first, then get the cut that gets you where you need to be... Within reason. I think the pump is operating past its peak efficiency at 7k. If I had to guess, I'd say an Agressor A would be a good place to start if you're going to run an Agressor impeller. I think a AA Aggressor will pull your motor down a little too much. And doing a "slip the pump to get the Rs" type setup with that much HP will probably just lead to fatigued pump parts due to all the aerated water in the suction housing if you go that route.
Either way, I'm glad you got to take her out, stoked that you liked what you got, and pretty sure you'll have her setup right in no time. Just make sure she leaves hard so you can get out there at BBSP and show em whats up!
Talk to you later,
Chris

Hey Chris
It has an open loader and Tom Papp race bottom. That vane broke and another one has a crack.Boat leaves bitchen.I didnt think it would with a b/c but I was wrong.Tom said its because of bottom,5 degree intake and motor is forward like a race boat.Next season it will be at Ming. How is yours' coming?

Mine is right where I parked it Saturday night :) Got softball and voting tonight, so no time to swing by MPD today, perhaps tomorrow at lunch I can get by there, get a loader ordered up, and with any luck be tweaking hardware over the weeked (wife will be out of town). I need to get the shoe off the boat and onto the mill to put a little back cut on it. That and make some thinner shims so I can rock the biatch back a bit. I think the loader will make the biggest difference though. Then after all that, and some more time on the water, I'll work with Jack and Dave to decide where I should cut my stainless impeller to.
Talk to you later,
Chris

Why would it crack there?! I figured the cracks were on the vanes where they attach to the insides of the bowl.
Did anyone have any opinions on why the impeller broke too? Ain't too many rock bars on Elsinore.
I thought these impellers were supposed to work better when you put more power to them (that's what I remember reading)....not break?!
Kinda sucks about spending another $1500+ on these parts again.

11-03-2004, 08:16 AM
It's an older Aggressor impeller.New ones are way better.I saw one at Toms' yesterday.I can't wait for dyno date.See how much power this think is.

I hope the next parts hold up to all the abuse the engine is gonna put to it.....I mean, the input from your foot! :D
;) Does the fwd/rev control have a lock on it to keep the rev bucket from closing?! :p :D
