View Full Version : What Was Your Oddest Towing Setup?

I towed my last jet boat with my 85 Thunderbird with a 5.0 out of a Mustang. It towed alright, as the power was there, but I sure did get a lot looks from people.
I think the craziest setup I have heard about was a Honda Accord towing a trailored Mustang! There was a pic floating around but unfortunately I cannot find it right now.
I guess I am asking also because I am having serious thoughts about towing my next jet boat with my 91 Mustang GT. I think it may work... then again, maybe not :)

I guess I am asking also because I am having serious thoughts about towing my next jet boat with my 91 Mustang GT.:)I think it is highly not recommended. :) I just typed "mustang towing capacity" into Google -- didn't see a '91 come up immediately, but every one I did see gave a specification of "1000 lbs. towing capacity". Good luck!

Thanks for the info RatherBeInLHC,
I will probably buy a vehicle more suitible to towing as soon as I sell the Stang, and tow with my brother's truck in the meantime.
Anyone with a crazy tow story? :)

LONG time ago I used to tow my Hobie Cat with my '77 Camaro. It was way longer and wider than the car (but trailer and boat only weighed 700 lbs.) That's the rig I learned to back a trailer with. I used to back it like a crazy person (in other words, fast) on the beach while getting ready to launch. If I saw someone doing today what I used to do I'd say, "what an A-hole!") :boxed:.

I gotta dig for the pic, but it was not really towin, I stuffed my 82 440 stand up jet ski in the back hatch of my 79 Mazda RX-7. No one could ride with, the passanger seat had to be folded forward. I am lookin for the pic.
Found it, scanned it, and here it is. LOL Makes me laugh lookin at it again. I was stupid!!! LOL

Had to have been this guy. You don't see this setup very often.

That would have been a cool setup.

It's clear that my frond drive Maxima tower has clearly lost in this contest of the ridiculous so I'm looking for a picture of a 40' Cigarette being towed by a self propelled lawn mower...

Use to tow my jetski's around behind my lowered road racer car......
But the hell load I use to carry/tow was behind an old Isuzu P'up diesel. I had made a rack to put 2 jetskis at bedrail height and store all our gear underneath them, then hooked up the 15' flatbed trailer with 3 more jestskis and two quads. Talk about doing about 5mph up the grades on I-8 back towards San Diego
