Looks and sound great.
Are you monitoring any engine functions with that setup. Oil,water rpm's etc.

That setup is only to put some heat in the engine to retorque etc.
I watch oil pressure only when I do that. Water temp is manual calibrated feel. :notam:
The objective this time was to set fuel pressure, idle mixture and idle speed.
Take them to the dyno for the real stuff.

Thanks man.
You are right. It only made 2 pounds of boost. But made 742 HP.
Who knows what it would have done with the pulleys swapped.

2 pds? Something doesnt seem right does it? My guess is the Bds is only a stage one or two , which is hard anodized and not stripped, but thats what my very first blower was and even with a intercooler spun 5% under still made 4psi on a 547. Whats in it for a cam and what rpm were you measuring the boost?

Infomaniac
11-01-2004, 11:08 AM
Stage 2 not stripped. 3 seasons old. Lots of cam and air flow out the headers.
Watched boost as he loaded it from about 4000 RPM down, Got out of the way as it did the sweep. Manual gage as always.
I was expecting about 4 pounds according to the CID/pulley/boost charts
Good 89 octane machine. :D

When I had the FED in the garage under the house, I would roll it out into the driveway on New years Eve, and fire it up at Midnight. I always figured it was a good way to start the new year.
The neighbors thought I was nuts, I guess they still do!!!
Car had a 354 Chrysler Hemi with a 2 4bl intake, and zoomies. Always wanted to put a blower on it, but it was to old to get the chassis certified and too fast with out the blower to even consider it.
The engine sounds really nice!!!

Infomanic-- Awesome video , do you have any video shots from the shoreline. If the video camera can keep up. Hows the ride at top end. Do you use the cav plates much. How does ride at high speed kind of like a tunnel with and outdrive (meaning alittle flitye in the front). My brother has a 22 1/2 daytona that goes 115 mph. Seeing that video has opened my eye to something else if i stop racing my hydro.

Boat rides pretty flat. Does not fly the nose. It wil go over rollers at top speed like they are not even there.

I was curious too, why the 8-71 instead of a whipple? Did the customer already have the blower or is it because the roots setup is so much cheaper?

So inquiring minds want to know, why pay for the Whipple over the roots if you're looking for 700'ish HP? Does the Whipple have a different power curve or more torque?

Well honestly you do not even need a blower to make 700 HP but it sure is easy. :p :p
Theoretically the Whipple should make more torque and power at the same boost level. We will have to wait until Trident dyno's one of theirs. Trident will be looking for a 700 HP and 900 HP tune up with an identical engine but a 3.3 intercooled Whipple.

Hey Heavy, this one's for sale less engine. Bet you could make it run the mid 7's with your big ford on a mild tune up. Your car would seem boring after a spin in an open cockpit hydro.

Those boats are obnoxious. :D
Super,
I actually have a pretty good imagination, and I start laughing when I really think about what that must be like to drive one of those things.
The only thing in my defence is I drive my 8-second car on the street, which feels ten times crazier then at the track like most drag racers experience.
My last boat was a 2000? searay 185 that had a 4.3 litre 220 horse deal.(4barrel) I got it up to 55mph and even that was a blast. I can appreciate the power and danger involved to run that kind of mph on water. One day I would like ride in something around 80mph or so on water.. Maybe info will invite me down for a rip one summer.. I’ll bring the Canadian beer!!! :220v:
Rick

Infomaniac

You are invited any time man.
A more tame ride would be in the quad rotor boat. A bit bigger boat with the quad rotor slug engine in it.
It goes 90 MPH before you get into the carb secondaries. From there you can ease into the throttle and accelerate past 120 pretty quick.
A little different ride than sitting right on the water out in the wind.

Upload the video somewhere on the net and then link to it.

You need an internet "host" and you upload your video to them via an FTP program. Then you link to it so others can download it.
Maybe your ISP has "web space" for you? To host your videos.
Same as Hot Boat's media center. You upload a pic to there and then link to it to display in your posts. Only their web site software allows uploads.
