Antrant, I have a 2" on my 460,and a 1" on my 454 .Both phenolic,to keep the carbs cooler.don't have one on the 3rd 460 ,because of clearence problem under the fiberglass lid.In earlier tests [70's] 460's gained low end torque with 6" spacers.Worthwile trying if you have space.

Go ahead and slap one on. It increases plenum volume. It won't be a huge difference but they do help.

OC Speed told me to put one under my carb on my 460. So I did.
Between that and this new pump I'm reading about I should be able to get 80mph more on the top-end! http://free.***boat.net/ubb/wink.gif

I went with a 1" on my 454. Some experts say I should be at 600hp now, maybe 650, no come to think of it 700. Yeah 700, that's about right. Of course only a dyno will tell. But I know it's 700. OK 750, it's 750hp.
No seriously, there was thread about this a while back. It had some good info.

I have a 3/4" spacer on mine it will be good for 100hp on my set up but it has a couple of steel lines connected to it.(true)
Really for carb spacers i do not think there will be a noticeable difference.but it does smooth out the flow into the plenum.
