Looks Like 4 More Years Of War In Iraq! With No End In Sight G.w. Trying To Impress His Dad. My Nephew Just Came Back From Iraq Monday In One Peice, Thank God. Even If Kerry Was In Office Would The War In Iraq Really Be Over? That Is What Is Great About America .. We Can All Disagree.

I'm not sure Kerry could do any better job then Bush. I have had people tell me that Kerry would help keep jobs in America. How? I work at Boeing and have been here for almost 17 years. Now more then ever I see our work going over seas. What would Kerry say to our CEO that would make them decide that they should pay an American worker 65K a year instead of shipping our work else where and have it done for 5K a year.
After 9/11 we were told out work force was going to cut 33,000 jobs.. I think they passsed that number. And it got pretty thin around here but as of just a few months ago they have started to bring back guys from layoff. The head count in my building at one time was about 1200 people. Now it is around 650 and our forcast is to be back up to 790 by the end of 2005.
Is my job safe? No, but it sure does look like it's getting brighter around here. Numerous guys have decided not to come back from layoff and have decided to keep the jobs they found. So if they are willing to turn down great pay and benifits then something tells me it isn't all that bad. Who knows, maybe they just don't want to risk getting laid off again but if they found a job, then why can't more poeple.
All to say, one man cannot be held responsible for you/me/or anyone else for getting a job.
Who know what the Bushmiester has in store for us , but I do know this... He has 4 years to show us. :cool:

Here is whats ruining the industry that I work in,(construction) workmans comp,(I prefer to call it workmans welfare) money being doled out for every fake injury that a person can conjure up. Lawsuits, illeagel immigrants, lawsuits,Insurance, did I mention lawsuits. How can a business prosper, with the constant threat of a lawsuit, which will ruin the business owner. If a worker in India comes to work drunk, and falls into a machine, gets his arm ripped off, they send the 1 armed guy home and say too bad. If that same thing happens in America the employer gets sued, for letting a drunk guy work.
It only make sense to ship jobs to India, for that reason alone. Why should a business gamble and hope a swarm of lawers wont try to take everything.
It also ruins things for people who really are injured in accidents. Did you know that 80% of employees, who retired from the state of Ca. file a workmans comp claim, within 2 years after retirement?
Why does every one hate sucessfull businesses, and large corperations? When I look around, I see I would have nothing, If not for large corperations.

It's called TORT reform. Not allowing people to sue others for CRAP!!! You wouldn't believe some of the lawsuits that get settled for economic reasons and not because anyone is interested in the truth. This is a broad topic, but let me have a quick whack at it. Stopping lawsuits, or making people pay legal costs when they lose, would help a lot.
Security is paramount. We are being threatened. (Yes, folks, the media is run by liberals, but try to read past their crap.) They did find several known terrorists in Bahgdad after the fall. One was the Abu Nidal that killed the Jewish American man in a wheel chair aboard the Achille Lauro (Klinger?) And there were some other retired terrorists. It is also a FACT (read 911 report) that Iraqi operatives met with Al Queda operatives in Europe. We do not know the "goings on" but I don't think they were out for just lunch!
Before we went to Iraq, Saddam refused to comply with 100s of UN actions. We all voted on it and threatened action. Bush simply took action, and we went with others. France and Germany did not choose to participate because they were in violation of the UN embargo by secretly selling chemicals, goods, munitions, technology, materials, etc. etc. to Iraq. This was behind our backs!! Much of it was with the UN oil for food program. (911 report has some of this)
Understand that the current Muslim, in the middle east, is actually less educated than the Hollywood POS that run their mouth too much. Most (read 99%) have only a high school education. The muslim community overseas believes that if you do not believe what they believe you must die. No BS, that's the truth. They also believe that if you are an American, then you must be Christian or Jewish, of which neither belief they understand. That's right, they want you dead! Understand a little better now? The Mullahs (religious clerics) TELL people over there what they are to do, believe, eat, crap, etc. etc. They will kill at will and many will give their lives for their cause because they fervently believe in their version of heaven. I do not agree with current operations in Iraq. I did fight in the first Gulf War, 2nd ACR, in an M1-A1. I have also spent 28 years of my life (42) overseas. They understand one thing, and one thing only. ACTION Here is the simple solution. It is our job, to get these people to Heaven. (per Stormin Norman) Every time they cut off the head of a hostage, we carpet bomb and napalm a few villages and 10,000, give or take a few. Believe me, the beheadings will stop.
I strongly suggest that any of you that feel so strongly visit a muslim country to find out what they think of us. Go to Indonesia or better yet, NIgeria. Then come back. You'll be the first one in line to push the button to send over a bomb. They don't like us because they are filled with lies about us. We are the most generous country in the world. But we are Christians as a majority. And that presents a great problem for most of these people.
And, by the way, any of you gals that have any notions. I really encourage you to go. Middle east and far east is perfect (Saudi, UAE, Bahrain, INdia, Pakistan, Malaysia, etc. etc.) You will learn that women have a place............in the back with the other cattle. In grad school we beat the outsourcing topic to death and the fact of the matter is that it is necessary for some phases of the economy. Many businesses cannot compete financially in the United States markets today without outsourcing some of the higher cost jobs such as R&D. In order for many companies to bring new highly-competitive products to market they need to outsource the development or the service of the product to keep operating costs low. This actually allows for a net increase in new jobs in the U.S.

Deal with your suppliers, some of them will actually deliver on their promises.
Deal with EDD, SS all state and federal employment agencies and regulations.

Deal with your land lord.
Deal with all of your overhead expenses, gas, phone, office supplies, utilities, vehicles, insurance etc etc etc.

For stepping up!! I do own my own business and am tired of insurance premiums going up, etc. etc. I spend un believable amount of time with lawyers because some idiot, high on Meth and drunk, with no drivers license (after 9 DUIs) ran into my equipment on a closed road. (I am not making this Sh#t up folks!) He owes ACCESS 950K (AZ medical for the poor) and his claim in the lawsuit is that the traffic plan wasn't clear????? Hello???? He had to go around two hard closures that said "ROAD CLOSED". The shame of it? We ended up settling for $1 million. Why? Because it would have cost us $2 million to fight the case over the years. What happens next? Premiums go up and so does your next house!!! And this is one of three CURRENT cases I have!! (All as ridiculous!)
And outsourcing is required in many instances. People want all the benefits while working at Ford Motor Company, medical, vacations, personal time, high salaries, etc. etc........But then make a shopping decision from the Hyundai or KIA in the driveway to the Chinese built toaster oven they purchase. Can we not figure this out????
PS I drive a 3/4 ton Chevy, Corvette, Winnebago (all American made, yes, my Chevy was made in Texas) and an American made WARLOCK!!! I try to buy American and employ Amercians (200 employees). I collect the taxes for the feds, cities, state, etc. etc. I pay the tax every week and quarter. And all I get is what an A-hole I am because I seem to have so many toys and such???? I make too much money????? I don't pay enough taxes???? The way this country is going is the same as the Romans and the Greeks. We will fail. China will be the next powerhouse, trust me. Clinton gave them the technology they required. (yes friends, do a little research). But I digress. Much like you shop, companies shop as well. And if they can get it done in India for 1/2 price, like you, they do it!!

Starting a business in this country is pretty amazing though.
I have a friend who just sold his public company, he started it in his garage.
About a year ago I was waiting in my car for an early appointment when a female bum came strolling by, pushing her shopping cart filled with Al cans and going through everyone's recycling bin on the block. She stops right next to my truck and whips out a CELL PHONE! Makes a call and sits down. Five minutes later her "boss" pulls up in a Toyota pickup, takes her cans, counts out her pay and drives off. :D
