When you came out to your friends and family about being a Republican how many tuned their backs on you and have since sworn you off?
This election made me realize just how f*cked liberals really are. Every liberal I know knows only what they hear on the news about politics. They have never picked up a book or sought information about their party or the people who they choose to run the country. However, they feel so strongly about that person that anyone who opposes is a horrible person to them.
Example: As of election night my mother has told me she is ashamed to have a son who would vote to re-elect George Bush and because of me and the people who supported George Bush she wont be able to afford the next 4 years. Her answer, disown me. I was told to never contact her again unless I wrong my rights and realize what bad people republicans are. My mother got her political awareness from TV news, commercials, and Farenheit 9/11.
I've also had several friends tell me to go f*ck myself and forget I ever knew them.
Liberals are F*CKIN CRAZY!!

Sorry about your mom don't know what to say about that. If a friend turns his back on you because you are republican, I'd have to say that's not a true friend. Sounds like a good way to weed out the crummy friends.

You have a right to your own opinion, family above all else should understand that.
I would say good ridance (sp) to the friends who shot their mouth off to you. In the end they will see who is right.

The ironic thing is had I told my mother I was gay or a pedophile or something like that she'd have accepted me for it. I tell her I'm a republican and I support George Bush and his conservative ways and she disowns me :2purples:

I know how you feel. My best friend think's he's gonna be drafted. What a moron. True tollerance is respecting others and respecting that they too have a opinion. Even though they are wrong. Just remember the right things in life are not usually the easiest. You did the right thing. Be proud!

Boozer,
What a shame. I'm 46. When I was 18, I registered as a Republican. The first vote I ever cast was for Ronald Reagan in 1980.
My father was a old-school die hard Democrat until the day he died. He was a union member who believed in the values espoused by the old-time Democratic Party, which, IMHO, is unrecognizeable today. I think I was the very first person in our family to ever register as a Republican. Dad and I talked for hours about it. Before he died in 1983, he was starting to see that his party had left him.
My mom hasn't disowned me, but she still believes the Conservative Democratic Party is out there. You and I both know that just is not true. At 73 years old, however, she can believe whatever she likes, andd God bless her. I am just damn happy to have her around.
I am sorry your mother is so bitter.
About the people who told you to go f yourself when you spoke your mind.
So much for tolerance, eh?
I would say that they were never your friends in the first place if a difference of political opinion can drive them to treat you like that.
Hang in there.
FBT.

Then sue you when it didn't taste quite right. After all the government should have a free program guaranteeing they'll receive perfect tasting free food and drinks.

Perhaps it's because your an asshole and not so much about the political party to which you belong. Many non-right-wingers read alot. We simply choose to get our information from more reliable sources than Fox news, Limbaugh, Hannity, O'Reilly, the National Spectator, etc. Not that we don't listen to or read those sources of information too. We just choose to broaden our source beyond those that spew out a single viewpoint.

That's right. He gets his news from incredibly reliable sources such as Dan Rather. Ol' Dan wouldn't ever lie, would he?

BTW, Boozer, sorry to hear about your Mom's feelings about this. I guess she somehow thinks Kerry's massive tax increase would have put more money in her pocket. I thank my lucky stars every day that my parents raised me conservative.

I thank mine that my parents raised me to be intelligent enough to keep an eye on all politicians regardless of political party and to never give them a free pass. Suspicion of our government leaders is what this country was founded on and is at the very foundation of our country. Although I'm sure there are probably people as stupid as Boozer's mother, both republican and Democrat, I somehow doubt the complete truth of the story. At any rate, he sounds like he has possibly shoved his opinion rudely in the face of those that disagree with him and they called him on it. Too bad for him.

Hey Boozer, I'm sorry to hear that you're just finding out (the hard way) how liberals treat "their friends" when they find out their friends are more conservative/Republicans.
I gave fair warning to my friends and acquaintances by sending out my "message" that Bush needed to be re-elected via e-mails. A few responded especially my family. My very left-leaning cousin in NYC and I had some very interesting e-mail debates. Needless to say neither of us was able to change the other's mind about whom to vote for.
I'm now not talking to my sister. Unfortunately she did what many liberals do. We would trade e-mails - I'd send her fact-based arguments about a variety of topics (she is like many woefully uninformed about the facts in the political issues). I'm sure she would've learned a lot but she simply blew my e-mails off and started to get angry with me. She accused me of being a "radical right-winger" and wanted to know when I got "so religious" (which I'm not - I simply believe in the importance of religion in the US and the Judeo-Christian principles that helped found this country).
She then started getting angry and said some things about me (and my wife) that I didn't appreciate. Typical liberal stuff - resorting to name-calling and arguing because they cannot use facts to back up their beliefs. She's like millions of others who was born and raised a Democrat and while the party no longer fits her she could NEVER see herself voting for a Republican. She's like my Mom in that regard.
So we're not talking for a while meanwhile I'm celebrating the election victory and they're probably in mourning worried about how this country is going to hell. :D

i have neighbors not talking to me cuz of a politcal cartoon i emailed, then got a flaming from them about the evils of republicanism and they even went to the paranoid extreme of blaming Republicans for slashing their tire at Wal-mart cuz of a Kerry sticker in their window............WOW :hammer2:

I would love to see how crime rates broken down to county level would look in an overlay with this.
I'm sure that the inner city citizens really stack up to the mass of the country (red) :notam:
If the IQ is so great in the blue areas, why is it that most of the successful businesses and most of the blue collar/white collar workers are leaving these blue areas every day and have been for quite a while. Something the liberals like to call urban sprawl. Something well accounted for by the red. Just wait till the next election. Four more years of Urban Sprawl. The libs/socialist are really in trouble.
