If anyone out there is running a 455 Olds with an AA impeller and stock rocker
arms I would like to hear what results you get out of your set up.

What compression ratio?

Mine will be a pump gas motor, have not purchased pistons yet.

Pump gas, regular or super? ;)
If you go low compression 8.5 (big dish pistons), I'd go with something like a 268 or 270 duration. If you go for the shallow dish pistons (9.75-10), then maybe a 280 or 292 duration. I'm building a 10.5 compression 455 with a Comp 280 right now. I'd like to try an AA impeller myself.
These are just my suggestions, I'm sure you'll hear others. I'm no pro race engine builder, just a mechanic that builds all my own stuff and has a soft spot for Oldsmobiles.

like malcolm said, the comp 280 has .490 lift, the 292 has .518 lift and if you have the clearence and want a very radical idle, the 305 has .540 lift. all are 110 lobe seperation angle which is what you want. be sure to get new lifters and springs too. if you`re not pulling skiers and out for top end speed, get rid of that aa impeller or you`ll see people with less motor going around you.

.540 lift and stock rockers is bad juju.

Next month's issue...lets see, for people on the east coast, that issue probably arrived yesterday, I should get mine next month, and the west cost peeps, well... let's just say it'll come in a packet with a free t-shirt, the latest Rex catalog, and a brochure on Ice fishing in Hell. :D

I ran a 230@.050/.490 lift/110 lobe in my olds and it pulled hard. That was with stock valvetrain;)
