Oh God I hate those things! Are you missing one? Why not have it overhauled?

first car for him. I rebuilt the carb awhile back but it was in pretty sad shape. Someone prior to us getting it broke the base cover to get to the mixture screws. Apparently they tightened it up too much and messed up the seat among other things. I'm thinking it would be best to get something that's in better condition before spending any more on this one.

Go to a carb exchange place if the boards don't pan out for ya. Might run ya $100 or so.

thanks guys. I checked a few of those places and the least expensive was still $239.00 w/exchange. My son is down to just 4 hours a week with work and it'll be tough for him to come up with that. I'm trying to teach him the value and cost of maintaining a car. We made a deal, I bought the car and he's going to pay for the maintainance.

I think I might actually have one in storage in the Stanton area. I had it in my old '83 firebird (same motor though). I'll find out today. If I do still have it, I'm sure I can beat that price too.

Maybe next time he'll learn it's cheaper to buy your own car than to maintain the clunker dad brings home for ya. ;)

that's basically what we've been doing but now that he's on the basketball team, it's difficult for him to work. I have him cleaning up my jobsite on the weekends though.
I kind of wish he get a little more interested in helping with the maintainance though....he's just not real interested in getting his hands greasy.

My son hasn't got a job as of yet, but he's doing ok in school and keeping his nose clean. So, he does odd jobs for me to help pay for maint, but if he wants it done , he's the one doing it. Unless it requires my actual expertise. He doesn't love doing the work, but he's doing it. I do it for a living, so I want him to be at the least familiar with his car.

Rip the computer out of that S10 and throw a holley on it. Had an 83 s10 and that carb was a piece o crap... If you crank up the timing on them those 2.8s run a lot better.

Did you ever find a good carb for the 2.8? I have wrecking yard connections and can probably get one for under $100.
