Hey All,
There is a newer place diverter on eBay that is almost up, it's only selling for $320! Check it out at:

Can this be modified to fit a JE pump?

Nope! But you can install it on your "e" pump. All you have to do is reroute your and reverse cable and replace your steering cable. Just buy the e pump diverter. Bolt on deal with no headaches!

Nope!
This is incorrect, although the only component reused untouched is the main nozzle housing. The reverse gate and control cable mounts need to be changed and the steering element needs to be replaced or machined(2 holes drilled and tapped for steering bracket)

This is not as "easy" or cheap as it may sound. A nice through-transom mounting kit for the steering and reverse cables, such as the American Turbine K5001(pic below), cost $160. Add to that the new reverse cable that will be required. The JE uses a 43C. You will need a 43BC for the JC/JG diverter. Figure $75 +/-. Right there you are talking $235 plus more labor for the installation.Dont forget there will be time and $$$ involved in sealing the old cable holes in the transom.

It all boils down to cost effectiveness. With the diverter in this auction(which did not include a control handle or cable) going for $325, neither method would prove to be cost effective. The current JE price in the Rex Marine website FOR NOZZLE ASSEMBLY only(i.e.---No control or cable) is $457. I think a friend who called for a price this past summer was given a price closer to $500.
So unless you get the diverter for dirt cheap, or are planning to install a droop, you are better off buying one designed for the JE pump.
