the only problem you might have is on the lobe center you have to be carefull on reversion. wich means is that water can be sucked back into the cylinders at low idle. you are better off with a higher lobe center if you run water thru your exhaust.

Run dry, you can get cool mufflers for thru transom exhaust!.

Thats the same cam that my buddy runs in his Camaro. Fairly potent with a decent, yet noticable idle.

I've got a 280 Comp in my 24' Daytona (4000 lbs), the main problem is getting it into gear at the rpm that it needs to idle at. I've changed the metering rod springs, and drilled idle-air bypass holes in the butterflys too. My deal also has a RPM Airgap- modified by welding up the plenum divider, (that enhances bottom end/ midrange at the expense of 5500rpm and up power), an rpm area that your unlikely to see. Carb is a 625 AFB and cam is the 280 Comp. Mine likes to run at 5100-5400 RPM. The exhaust is the stock Aquqpower logs that go almost straight out the back, (a homebrew deal). The most important issue for anyone else reading and contemplating these mods, is DO THE EXHAUST FIRST!!!!! I didn't, and the speed gains were only 3 MPH, I listened to the boat shop "experts" who said the exhaust wasn't a restriction, they were WRONG! The boat ran 44-46 mph at 4500 rpm, with a 17" prop, then I did the exhaust, WOW! Now it runs 58 mph at 5400 rpm with a 19" prop! The latest test is a 21" prop at 5100+ rpm and 61 mph! The restricted exhaust covered up almost all the cam, carb, intake gains. In the lower/middle rpm range, with a decent exhaust a single pattern cam will make more torque, thats what you want. A Bravo drive has exhaust vents out the side near the cavitation plate and has much less restriction. I'm still acumulating drive stuff to last behind the 572, can't wait to see what THAT runs! Thanks for the replies as I am contemplating direction because motor is not yet in boat either to pull this cam and replace with another (any suggestions). As one of you mentioned this is a potent cam. I have the GLM 4 inch exhaust running pretty high rite out the back (several inches above drive). I to also will be running MSD ignition, airgap intake, and a ' BIGGS ' bad ass 700 carb. Once and a while I will run that alpha at 5600 rpm. What to do ??
Anyone have an old Kawasaki Interceptor for sale - first the boat then the snow
Thanks again for all replies - (these winter projects.......)
