So where is the anger that Burt asked about 1 1/2 years ago?
I find it interesting how the country in general just rolls over without saying a word in any organized manner that could make a difference. At the same time while big oil companies are enjoying record profits and margins.
I call it the numb factor.
What is your take?

Thanks, Mike. Did you notice that nowhere but here in sunny, SoCal are the prices this high? My local station dropped to $2.259 for regular unleaded today. And tonights news reported record earnings for the big gas companies. We just keep rolling over...

They keep talking about how the prices are consistantly dropping around the valley for the last 3 weeks, but everything I've seen has gone up. Diesel in most spots jumped from $2.09 to $2.26 in a matter of 2 days.
Phuckers, raise the price a dollar and leave it for a while and then we're happy when it drops down $.50. It's all a big phucking get rich scam. Like when the pipeline broke between Phoenix and Tucson (it was all over the news) and propted a huge gas shortage. Guess what?? That pipeline carried ONLY Super Unleaded. Nothing else. But all the stations were all out of every flavor, but diesel. Prices promptly jumped, some places to $4.00+ a gallon for gas. Greedy phucks.

Handing it on down the line. Price increases in the freight business. Try getting equipment trucked across country right now. It's double what it was a year or so ago for the same thing.

I don't think there is a station in Washington under $2.00 per gallon. I've read there is oil off the coast of California, but nobody wants drilling off the coast. Are little sludge globs floating up on the beaches like in Texas really that bad? ;) I doubt it will ever go back down.

We could almost still be boating. We have had a real mild fall so far. Only a couple of nights into freezing. Been getting into the 60's during the day. But, my boat is already winterized so I will wait till spring.

I posted all the "big oil" threads and the rip offs a while back and pretty much everyone on here thought it was okay to rape the public. Oh well...now that it continues unabated it still hurts our economy.

Fewest refineries per capita than any other state. Controlled by a very small group of companies. Unique blend of gasoline only for California. Sound like an open market? And people got mad at Microsoft.

I am a 76 dealer here in San Diego and the high prices hurt us a dealers as well. We are making alot less than most people think. The oil company sets the price we pay for the gas and then you have to add on the ridiculous taxes that are imposed on fuel (diesel is higher than gas).
For those of you wanting to save a few cents on a gallon of gas by going to Arco or even worse independents, remember you get what you pay for.
Here is some info Arco and the independents don't want you to know about:
Oct. 7, 2004 --- ConocoPhillips [NYSE:COP] is pleased to announce today that its gasoline has been recognized as a "Top Tier Detergent Gasoline" by four of the world's largest automakers -- BMW, General Motors (GM), Honda, and Toyota.
The new Top Tier program was established by these automakers as a voluntary program to identify oil companies who provide the higher level of detergency that helps to prevent deposits on intake values and fuel injectors. Top Tier Detergent Gasoline requirements exceed the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s minimum level of gasoline deposit control additive performance.
“This recognition reinforces ConocoPhillips' commitment to the quality of our Phillips 66, Conoco and 76 gasoline,” said Mark Harper, president, U.S. marketing for ConocoPhillips. “We feel it will give our marketers and dealers a distinct advantage in the market place.”
ConocoPhillips introduced Quality PROclean Gasolines earlier this year, making the company’s gasoline among the highest quality available in the market. The gasoline additive, which is available in all three grades, already exceeded the Top Tier requirements that were later established.
“We are pleased that the quality of our gasoline has been backed up with this Top Tier recognition,” Harper said. “It demonstrates our promise to consumers to provide a high quality product that will help clean their engines and reduce deposits. Cleaner burning fuels are environmentally friendlier fuels.”
ConocoPhillips utilizes a network of marketers and dealers operating approximately 13,300 outlets under the Phillips 66, Conoco and 76 brands. ConocoPhillips owns and operates approximately 330 retail sites and is the largest refiner in the United States with crude oil processing capacity of approximately 2.2 million barrels of oil per day.
remember Arco charges a 35 cent transaction fee on atm's and credit. poor quality gas and the transaction fee is the way they get around their lower gas prices.

I agree...the retail outlets are not making the huge profits it is the companies taking it out of the ground and refining it. The refiners in California are making 3 times the margin per gallon of gas than the Gulf Coast state that do not have such market concentration in so few hands. I sympathize with the retailers as they are stuck in the middle.
