O.K. don't laugh, but when the front seats finally rotted out of my dads 1973 18 footer, he replaced them with what looks like plastic high-backed dunebuggy seats.( complete with the snap on vinyl covers) Don't get me wrong, they work fine, but with ditching the engine cover, chroming out the motor, all new carpeting, ect. I think I would be happier with some correct looking low backed jet boat type seats. I have knowledge in the feild of carpentry, I do roofing and other building on the side. My questions are on wood selection, can I use regular wood with a healthy coat of thompsons water seal? And also what thickness of wood for the seat backs, and how do you get it to bend? Just by thinking of what seats look like, it seems like it would'nt be to hard to do but what do I know?
