Ok all you stereo guru's-Question 4 ya?????

I just finished building my enclosure for 8 10's. THe box needs to be ported. I wanted to run all the ports on the same plane as the woofers but they will not fit! I have all 8 subs facing the roof of the truck. Can I place the ports on the side of the box? If you dont understand(picture looking into the back of a denali and you see ports facing you and subs facing the roof of the truck). Do you think it will work well? :confused::confused:All the boxes I have built in the past, the ports were on the face of the box with the subs.

Subs are not directional...just don't obstruct the port, or place it where any air noise can occur (whistling).
However, I am not an expert or guru (just an internet idiot), so consider the source.

Thats what I was thinking but i wasnt clear.I know on bandpass(which is what I build mostly) port location doesnt matter. Thanks for the insight HH;)

My lexus has 4 swiss audio 12's powered by an "old school" orion 2100 hcca. My back window looks like its about to fall out. I have to fix my trunk lock because it rattled loose :D

I remember back in the day I built a system for a buddy. It was a walk through. I built an enclosure(s) theat held 1 15 in a 4ft^3 ported enclosure, 4 12's in a sealed seperated enclosure, 2 10's in their own enclosures, and 2 8's . When the shell was put back on, the amps were exposed when the hatch and gate were opened... I think we ran 6 of the old zapco amps that the powersupply was seperate from the amp... I'd hear the booming, grab my jacket, and right about the time my feet got to the sidewalk, he'd be turning onto my street....anmost a half mile away :jawdrop: Yes, the truck was loud :D
My parents loved me building and tuning car stereos in their garage and driveway :D:D:D

I feel ya on that. That old zapco shit was the bomb. My friend had a mazda with a walkthrough. He had 12 12's and 16 amps along with 5 batteries. I could barely breath in it. That shit hit so damn hard. That was back in the day when orion made good amps like the hcca series;)
