The Uniden Combo has VHF & GPS w/ all the bells. A little big but it is 2 in one if you ocean boat. About 399 on West marine.com or Overtons.

No kidding! Our old boat did 200 miles per hour until I put a GPS on'er. That POS knock the top speed down to 70 MPH. It is amazing how much top end the knock out of a boat. The only good thing is my wife (the rev limiter) stopped smacking me in the back of my head so much. :D

depends.. Mine is about 3-4 MPH off in either direction.. At low speeds its pretty right on. at 80-100 its off a little but not much.. It just depends.. When your going for top numbers.. you will get ripped off a little.. Another thing to consider Im sure its been coverd.. With a hand held it takes some time for it to catch up to the boat.. so If you going for a top end number .. You need to stay there for a few seconds more then you probably want to.. Otherwise the GPS wont give you the correct number.
.. Find out what a good low speed that is consistant and check the RPMs.. Drop that into your Prop calculator and find out what your slip is. then you can just put that info in a calculator and get a pretty good number.. Your slip will change at different speeds
Thats the way I used to get my "over 100mph numbers" My speedo only goes to 100.
Now I use GPS but they were always pretty close.
good luck
Mark

I like the CD with the maps. You can down load a map of the area your going to be in and navigate even at night.
