I need a little advice from all you experienced techies. I have a 22' Eliminator with a 454 and a Bravo I out drive. I'm running a 21p 3 blade SS Mirage prop. It just seems like it's not enough. I'd like more low end power and I think I'm hitting my rev limiter. I was thinking about going to a 23p or 24p 4 blade. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks. :D

I think that you will like the 23" Bravo 4 blade much better. It will bite more out of the hole, and bring your top end down 600 RPMs or so.

Mirage Plus 3 blade props come in "odd" increments...21P, 23P, 25P, etc. Bravo 1 props (not to be confused with Bravo 1 outdrives) come in "even" increments - i.e. 22P, 24P, 26P, etc.
The 4 blades will give you better bite out of the hole and the three blades will give you better top end. This is a generalization. Props react differently with different hulls. On my 21' Essex the 4 blade Bravo 1 prop causes the boat to be squirrely where the 3 blade Mirage plus is rock solid.
The best thing to do is find a prop shop that will let you try before you by so that you can experiment with different pitches and number of blades until you find the one that works best.
You should know when you are bumping the rev limiter. It is pretty dramatic when it happens. If you're bumping it with a full load you probably need more prop. If it only occurs when you are low on fuel with little load - passengers and stuff - then you're probably in the right ballpark already with pitch. I'd suggest trying a 22P Bravo 1 prop (4 blade) and a 23P Mirage Plus. I turn a labbed 25P Mirage on my 502 powered 21' Essex Sterling and it turned out to be the best prop for the boat after much experimentation (and cost).

I have the new 6.2 MPI with 320HP .The factory recommended max rpm is 5200 WOT.Run Bravo1 15 1/4X26 four blade props and still able to run the engine little over 5000 . With a big block I would try a 24 4 blade .

try the bravo one 24 p from merc we use them w the 496 mag ,they run very well we get about 65 mph in a23 open bow and they pull very hard out of the hole , the 4 blade props dont seem to slip as much if any my 2+ cents

If you're really hitting the rev limiter your warning horn should be going off. I'd give the 23" Bravo 1 four blade a shot. But first, I'd make sure about that rev limiter, otherwise you might want to try a 22". :D

Spectra,is that 257 you have a single or twins.I think I recognize it from Washington State. If its the boat I'm thinking of it had blown small blocks in it,then diesels, and now????.It looks familliar because of the raised sun pad .

Yes it's the 257 Terry Bollinger had with twin s/c originally. The 6.2's have only 28 hours on them, the diesels went back to mercury. The 35 nordic riding along my boat is Terry'shttp://www3.telus.net/spectrasonly/mirage%20transom.bmphttp://www3.telus.net/spectrasonly/Img_8253.jpg

I found a 4 balde 22" Bravo I for sale. It has a solid hub. Can I replace the hub with a Flo Torque II rubber hub?
