My friend has that exact set up. NOT the stepped bottom. 500HP. Ride is great but a little under powered if ya ask me. I think it is right at 64 on the GPS.
I will tell you that the craftsmanship is pretty Deluxe and Hallett takes great care of him and the boat.

nice boat....
stepped or not?
That 64 above sounds reasonable if not-stepped bottom. A few mph higher with the stepped hull

I just took delivery of a 270 step bottom mid-cabin with a Paul Phaff 700HP
I'm seeing mid 80's right now...I hear with a 525 HP it will run mid to high 70's
You can't beat Hallett for quality, not to mention excellent re-sale

I saw a sign on the 605 fwy that said "Future home of Hallet Boats....." I think up near the City of Industry or a bit north of that...Azusa maybe???

The Hallett 270 is a great boat. Do a search for some problems exhibited by some people with the step bottom though. Hallett quality speaks for itself. As far as Hallett moving, they are moving to a new place but will still be in Irwindale.

I have the 270 cuddy cabin open bow, no step, it had the HP500 (before it broke the crank @ 336 hrs) it ran approx. 66-68 on the speedo. I've had alot of boats and this by far is my favorite. Phaff motor in it now dynoed @ 562 hp with 568 ft lbs torque.
