Gidday,
These shots were taken on the Waimak River on Wed 26th September. Do you recognise any of the people in the photo’s? This team of visitors from USA had a ‘burning desire’ to boat the river… so much so that they ran out of fuel!!!
There pleads to not publish these photoÂ’s unfortunately fell on deaf ears!!! http://free.***boat.net/ubb/biggrin.gif
They will be hoping this doesnÂ’t happen to them during the race!

Well now thats not the way to do it. http://www.freakygamers.com/smilies/s/cwm/3dlil/nonono2.gif But I have been down that path of "plenty of ambition but lack of fuel" myself.

Kiwi Legend, I can't open your picture. I hope every thing is all right. I do know that Tim Harding and Leo Wright are the driver and navigater of the boat "Burning Desire". Tim is from Gold Beach and Leo is from Las Vegas. I hope there was no rocks involved? I have a picture of towing Tim in Whitecourt with blown motor. I will have to tell Tim that everyone seen his seen his shame. Have you seen Rob's yellow Coyote running? See over there in a couple of days.

Jungle Boy,
I just sent the pics to your email address. Have'nt seen any race boats arrive as yet, they were in a borrowed boat. Tim mentioned they would be arriving this weekend.
They didn't have an accident, just an embarrasing moment as you'll see in the photo's. Sorry for misleading you.

KLJ, were they going up or coming down?
Bruce Street and I did just that during a race and hit the bank after loosing the steering when the engine shut down! We were only a couple of hundred yards from the finish, in full view of everyone

Kiwi, yes that is a bitch to lose power. I always tell my passenger, "If we are running hard and lose power and coming into a corner and I jump out, you should too". They are thinking I'm kidding, but I ain't.

They run out of fuel on the way down, about 2-3 kms below the pylons. In a borrowed boat i guess they didn't know it fuel range.
Only 3 groundings on the way up and two on the way down..... not bad for first time on the Waimakariri.
On the same day we helped one guy off the rocks only for him to run aground again 80metres downstream!!! I'm picking i might see a cheap boat for sale in this weekends paper!!! Not a happy camper!

Hay Jungle Boy,
Did you say you were coming here on the 4th? Is that our 4th or your 4th? :-) How are you getting from Christchurch to Queenstown?
