Does it have a drive shaft with U joints. If so its best to have it a little off.
Define Crooked?
Crank not running parellel to the stringers??
Crank not running horizontal to the stringers??
Motor not straight up & down??

Like Cole said you do need the motor to be a little off. This rotates the needle bearings in the u-joints.
This is usually achieved by raising the height of the motor slightly.
I was told by an old master that you want the motor plates to be square with v-drive plate to reduce vibration.
Dont know about your deal. I would try to straighten it out, especially if you can spot it with your eye. The last thing you need is one of your buddie's giving you a bad time about you set-up. Just ask Cole Man II.

I am pretty sure you want it parallel, but slightly higher.
