Byron,
I don't think the 049 heads came with the larger valves. The valves in them, if I rmember correctly are 2.02 intake and 1.73 exhaust. The larger valves that are usually put in are 2.20 and 1.88 although you can get a little larger valves.
btw, did you guys ever receive the things we sent up for your kids?

Yeah I have the 2.19/1.88 valves in my other heads and these looked like the larger size as well. Wonder how much of a differance the larger valves make?
We did get them, guess you didnt get the email I sent you? Wanted to thank you guys for those and let you know I paid in full for TP. I'll give you a call this week and catch up on stuff.

The #049 heads came with 2.06" Intake and 1.72" Exh. these are very good heads I have ran a few sets of these heads one set I installed 2.19 Int. and 1.88 Exh. the other set I installed a 2.25" Int. and kept the 1.88 Exh. these heads work great to about 7000 RPM then they start dropping power.

Heres the casting # and description for the 990's
6272990....70-up...rect...OPEN...454 service replacement, used on some MKIV crate engines, 118cc chamber
From what I understand they work better for higher RPM applications but the large oval heads 781's or 049's might be better for low end power. If you want info on casting #'s and such for BBC, heres a link.
