I have a Mach22 DCB '98 equiped with a single Mercury Promax 225. It runs between 65-70 real nicely.
If you want to go faster, get a 300-X ! Then u should be able to go around 90.

A 200hp outboard will get you over 65 very easily.
Good dependable motor should run you 4-7K for a complete motor.

I know of a few outboard models that can be had for between 8000 and 14000 WITH an outboard. I know the whereabouts of 7 boats for sale in various forms from rough to sweet....I wouldn't pay more than 6500 for an outboard model WITHOUT and engine. Maybe 7500 if the trailer is sweet. With winter coming up you may be in the drivers seat as far as buying goes. You can normally find them pretty cheap. Especially in one of those states with lots of snow or Canada even. Let me know if you need help searching.
