Pacific Offshore has adopted APBA 2005 rules which brings Factory racing back to its roots. Factory class boats will be FACTORY BOATS! Factory 1 will run 24 - 30 foot v-bottom running single 496 HO, Inovation 425, or Volvo 496 with a minimum weight of 4,500 lbs. Factory 2 will run 30 - 39 foot v-bottom running twin Mercury 496 HO, Inovation 425, or Volvo 496's. with a minimum weight of 8,000 lbs. Factory cockpit interiors are required in both classes.
I know there are a lot of guys out there that have boats that meet the new class requirements. I would encourage anyone who has a need for speed and a competitive nature to take a look at racing in the upcoming year. Poker runs are fun, but the adrenaline from racing, hammer down for 60 or so miles is addictive!
If your boat doesn't meet the factory tech rules, look at the production class brackets. I ran my 24' open bow LaveyCraft in the P5 class and had a blast! The guys that I raced with welcomed me and helped out in any way they could. No primadonnas in the bunch.
You can link to the 2005 tech rules through www.pacificoffshore.com for more info. Or shoot me a message I'll be happy to anwser any questions I can.
BTW - I'll will be racing with the LaveyCraft Factory Team in the F1-11 boat. I will be ordering the new power package soon. We will run a Mercury 496 with Bravo 1x Drive (although it is a shame to take the 525 out).

The cost to race is about what you would spend for a weekend at the river. You'll be around guys who know how to set up your boat to run better and faster. Some of this guy who work in well-known shops that you've never met. They're out having fun just like you. All the experienced racers will be looking out for you to make sure you have a safe and fun weekend.
Production class's 3, 4 & 5 entry fee is $540.00. Factory 1 is $995.00. You need a helmet, (racing) life jacket, kill switches and a CDL physical. If you want to race, let us know. We can find you a helmet and life jacket. The CDL (commercial drivers license) physical is no big deal. 20 minutes in your doctor’s office and your done.
Anyone who doesn't want to race is always welcome to be a Patrol boat. You'll mark the outer part of the course and warn off any boats that may try entering while the race is going on. It's a lot of fun and you’re closer than anyone else to the action.

any tunnel hull classes??
You can run a tunnel hull in any of the performance classes. Performance Class is a place to race almost any boat, test your skill, start your racing career and test your products and equipment. The performance class is based on top speed while racing. If you exceed the top speed of the class while racing, you are put in last place for the class. A sealed GPS may be put in your boat and checked at the end of the race. Prevents sandbagging. If you plan on running over 110 MPH, you must have a full canopied boat.
Performance Extreme-Cat* 110+ MPH PX-#
Performance Extreme-V* 110+ MPH PV-#
Performance Class 1 100-109 MPH ** P1-#
Performance Class 2 90-99 MPH P2-#
Performance Class 3 80-89 MPH P3-#
Performance Class 4 70-79 MPH P4-#
Performance Class 5 Below 70 MPH P5-#

Wow 24' is the minimum? I guess I'm out unless they let me count my swimsteps as the extra foot I would need. :D

This sounds like a great event. Did not find any info about prize money? Is it true you have to join popra ($250) and apba ($100) entry fee ($540) and pay for crew members? I would have to start saving now. Is there a interior rule in the performance classes? I would like to hear anymore info you have though.

Pacific Offshore has a 1 time $0 membership for 1 race for new racers. If you want to continue to race, then the membership is $150 the first year and renewals are $250 per year per riding member. You have to join APBA and it is $100 or $200 if you continue to race. Crew members are $30 per year.
