At this time a member of our racing family is being honored in Utah. Gus was a racers racer, a loving husband, father, and grandfather. All who knew him, no matter the extent, were touched by his spirit, his smile, his caring attitude. He will be missed by all. Please take a minute out of your busy day to reflect how fragile our time here is, and to send Gus off to that big boat race in the sky...............R I P Gus...................Ray

When I was in Phoenix, I was watching the news from the hotel room right before we left for the races and I saw the female news reporter getting a ride in a circle boat. Was he the guy?
I am so sorry to hear about this. :(

I never had the chance to meet Gus. Been watching him in Jerry's video's for years. It was apparent that he was one of the best & most consistant drivers running SS. Every sport has guys in it that might not win every race, but if they are not out their something is missing. They are the one's recognized by the fans that don't know every driver. For me Gus was that guy.
Personally I will really miss not seing him in the SS501 boat, But could not imagine how his family misses him now.
God speed Gus.
