I would like to put some headers on my boat, but everything I find is for "open" compartment only. Does anyone have a suggestion?
Oh yeah, it's a 460 BBF

Lightenings (is that how you spell it?)

DirtyBob, yes Lightnings. You must use some type of jacketed header in an enclosed engine compartment. Meaning, injected through transom headers (basset makes them) will not work. Lightnings are cool, but pricey. Try GS Marine (909) 272-6060. Greg sells quite a few, and his price is about the fairest you will find. http://free.***boat.net/ubb/smile.gif

iam am in the smae boat no pun intended but yes lighting headers are the way to go they cost around 1800 -2000 bucks for bbf s so get your check book out. if you go to gs marine let us all knwo what you paid if you dont mind i need his price to add to my sheet before i decide what ill be running. oh and for the ford they are chevy headers with a adapter plate. to make it fit a ford and they also grind the flang to make the ford plugs work. once again good luck and keep us in the light http://free.***boat.net/ubb/wink.gif

My suggestion:
For the money, take off the cover, redo the interior and run Bassets. Hope that helped.

Sorry, just way to serious in here lately. Felt it was in need of a smart-ass reply.

Lightnings are a great pair, but they are damn pricey and in a boat like mine, definitley not worth it, but they make power and change the sound of the motor.

c'mon Hallet, some new gel, interior, solid motor, and some MPD pump action and that boat would look and run fine with a set of lightingings. Keep the boat and just think of the lightnings as an investment http://free.***boat.net/ubb/smile.gif Sure it might take a while to get everything how you like it, but no matter what, it beats a monthly payment.

I have some left over from a YSR I once had.
A little bailin' wire, JB weld, and tin foil, and they should work alright.

If you could use the adapters to make BBC headers fit your ford I can hook you up with some CMI S.S. fully jacketed headers for a good price. They have some dings in them but are priced to sell.
Flat Broke and Hack Job know where to get the adapter plates at.

I'll tell you whats worse than a monthly payment, a down payment .. yuck! you are right, I need to be patient, untill I start making some serious money. I don't want to be one of those guys who's boat is nicer than where they live. This boat will be very nice one day, I can feel it. Thanks for the insipiration flat broke. http://free.***boat.net/ubb/smile.gif
