I just put my new prop on. I got it from RBPROPS.COM (http://www.rbprops.com/) . 11.5x15 river racer it works great it was $450.00!! It’s like a whole new boat. I had a Stelling 11 1/4-16 prop on before and could not get it to work / set. Your prop would work great on a big cruser. And is worth some $$$. I have been using 22 gears and have a new set of 29 I’m going to put in it soon. I think you will need some more gear. If you go to less pitch.

You have that right. After you told me to call Ron I had already talked to all of the other prop makers and he was the most stand up guy. I stopped by his house, he let me check out the toys and had my prop re-worked in about 2 days. I will be going back to him for a new one next year and maybe a new V-Drive unit.

The prop or the boat?

I'd start with an 11X16 and keep those 12's in it. The thing will leave like a monster!! Ya might want some 15's close by if you feel you need them. But short gears are what gets you out front!

I guess I will have to accept blame for the failure we experienced at Parker this year. I don't know for sure, but I think a wrist pin boss let go and it was over from there. If I accept the failure, I should also accept the success we enjoyed this last season. I will accept APBA Western Div. Pro Stock high points, 2nd in APBA National high points, and 2nd in Western Pro stock Racing Assc. points. Without a tear down, our boat ran hard all year, 21 1/2 heats,(thats 107 1/2 MILES!!!!) wide flat open using parts and pieces that were marginal when assembled. Our heads and valve train are over 25 yrs. old, we put band aids on bullet holes just to make the 1st race, and the sucker held together all season. We have never had the luxury of spending 25-30K for someone else to build our motors, but we have beaten those big name motors in side by side competion using the same 8 spark plugs we started with in 1991. So as an engine builder, I only got 100+ miles of 7000+ rpm racing, I guess that makes me a failure. I would like to see your engine run 5 miles,(1 heat) @ 7000+ rpms, just once, and live. I'm not saying it won't do it, I'd just like to see it....MP......... PS89.....

Hey Ray, thats not bad at all for all the old stuff you were running. Plus the fact you threw it togther in one night. Boy just think what you could do with new parts and more time to put it all together and check things to make it perfect. Congrats on your season.

How about opinions on RBprops Vs Kindsvater Vs any others. I've got to buy a 3 blade steel prop this spring and I hate to pay the big bucks and not get the right one. It's unfortunate that you can't try a bunch of demo props like you can with an IO.
Thanks
Gary

But you can. If you buy a Radiece (Kindsvater) from Menkens V Drives (V Drive Tom here on the boards) he will let you run it. If you don't like it then send it back for some tweaking / different one until you're happy.
I don't know what RB's policy is but it's worth a call to both places.

76cole, With your power and a 16 pitch prop, you should be good with the 12% gear. That 16 pitch Stelling is a good prop to recondition and run. For the money that you put in it to it, you can then sell it with confidense that it is safe. Cut the DIA. down to 11 1/8 and run it. They are a decent prop. YES there are better props.(and I can sell you one) But that is a good start. :crossx: TOM..

I think so with an 18 of 22 gears. Try what you have now! I would not cut down your Stelling 12x16 prop. That is a big prop and most Stelling have been cut down. Maybe yours has!! Put a tape measure on it to see if it is 16”. Once you cut it down it’s going to lose its value you can’t add it back once you have. All I know is the 11 1/8 x 16 Stelling I have never worked right on my TR1. Maybe I have to much tork and gear for my Stelling? RB prop bought all the molds from the late Tom Black's company "Precision Propeller” I used my friends old 11 1/4 x 15 Precision Prop and it worked so bitchen I didn’t want to give it back!!! So I did some research and found out about RBprops. The new prop I got from RB you can tell it came from the same mold and works great!! If you spend the money to have your prop tune up it will be about 100 bucks. That’s about 20% of the price of a new one like I got!! So I would Sell that Stelling and put it with that 100 and your most of the way there. Next there is places that will trade your gears so for about 150 you could get some 22’s.

You are correct, Ron at RB Props will do that. Just to confirm.

Ask Fired Up what gears and prop he runs. You have similar engine combination and boat. He has more than one prop as I remember.
Other than that...what Tom said. 12 gears and about a 11x16 prop. Maybe 15 gears if you can find a lake at sea level that runs downhill.
