We go to our son's holiday band performance(Ican't believe I went) and it is so crowded the only parking left is a fire lane where 20 other cars parked, so I did it. Sure enough we come out and all of us got tics. Of course the bastard who gave them was no where to be found. :burningm: :burningm:

Sorry to hear about the ticket but you took the gamble and lost this time. Can't blame someone for doing the job, they didn't make the rules just enforced them.
Hate to think there could have been a fire and people, especially kids could have died because someone was parked in a fire access lane.

Same here FIRE LANES are there for safety, they are not there to inconvenience you. What if you needed medical attention and the paramedic and fire department was unable to get to you becasue the fire lane was blocked. You would not be able to complain about your parking ticket for parking in a FIRE LANE.

About two years ago, I spotted a tank trailer in front of the Mack dealer in Fontana and was unhooked and 50 feet from it for less than 5 minutes. The Fontana PD Commercial officer could not be talked out of writing the ticket. IT WAS $987!!!
I found technical problems with the section he wrote, and I wrote to his chief and told him so. I beat the ticket after a "written declaration" trial, when the officer failed to submit a written case after being given two chances to do so. I'm guessing that he didn't want to do battle on paper and lose!

the guy is just pissed he got a parking ticket... it is like like going a little over the speed limit and getting a ticket.. you would be pissed too, and you wouldnt want someone telling you "well by speeding you could have lost control of your vehicle and taken out a busload full of children!!"... :notam:

You'll are brutal, there is no parking left, should I have gone home! Maybe I should have driven the excusion right into the concert hall and parked. Maybe I should have called the fire Dept. and had them shut the whole thing done because the occupancy limit was double the allowable. Everyone expects support for activities, but then shit like this happens. :220v:

Thinking about this more and knowing how $cottsdale works, you should be thankful it's only a $90 ticket. I thought most of the tickets handed out start in the $200 range. Almost as bad as Cali. ;)

thats make the person who caught you a BASTARD,
No you are F**** lazy, park a block or two or even three blocks away and

How are we brutal for not having sympathy for you admittedly parking in a fire lane and then whining about getting a ticket? You had a choice, you chose to BREAK THE LAW and you got caught. If you are knowingly speeding and get pulled over do you whine to that officer for pulling you over as well? It's the same principle. Also, the excuse of everybody else was/is doing it is not an excuse. I applaud you for going to your son's holiday concert, too many parents do not take part in their kids lives, but you got caught breaking the law, sack up and take the medicine.

I don't know if this is AzCommie, (probably under18). But, AzCommie had major issues with authority figures and beleived the man was out to get him and that he was exempt from laws - he would rather find the person who parked legally to have disenfranchised him in some way. He forgot to tell you that it was the ACLU that wrote the letter for him.
BTW - nothing wrong with beating a ticket - it is part of the legal process. I mean, I almost got a DUI for sniffing glue, but it was a good thing I drank a gallon of metamucil (stolen from Tom Brown) and was able to creat a diversion with a noxious gas cloud. :rollside:

I take lot's of chances but I don't call anyone names such as "Bastard" for doing their job.
As I stated in the beginning I am sorry about the ticket he received but he took the chance hoping to get away with it rather than get there earlier or park farther away. Don't get me wrong I am not blaming him or monday morning quarter backing but where does the law specify that it is only "illegal" sometimes to park in a red zone.
Now my personal opinion is that the parking enforcement officer or patrol officer could have been more lenient (letter of the law vs. spirit of the law) or could have contacted someone at the school and had an announcement made but these are case by case instances and officer discretion issues.
I know he came on here to vent but there are many of us who abide by the law and would never think of parking in a red zone, handicap zone, ect., and there are those who take their chances.
Just my humble opinion and nothing personal against him or anyone else.....H20

Yeah! What he said! Awesome post Bill! If your kid was on the ground having a grand mal seizure and died as a result of the papramedics not being able to get there, you'd be the first one to hire an attorney to sue the same police department for NOT enforcing the fire lane violations. You gambled, and lost. Suck it up.

You could look at the positive and consider yourself lucky, lucky the officer did not call out for tow trucks.
Not to hijack, but, I recently watched a person park in the handicap at a convenience store and my hopes and dreams came true as TXDOT officer pulled up and blocked them in and waited for them to exit the store. It was enjoyable to watch to say the least especially because there were other parking spaces right there. Having a family member who needs those special spaces up front really shows one first hand how important they are. The same goes for the fire lane.

Do you honestly think the paramedics are going to drive around looking for a parking spot...Jeez you guys kill me. Sure he parked in a fire lane and got a ticket and yes he called the officer an unapporiate name but from the sounds of a few of you you would think the guy belongs shot on the spot!

Nope, just a little biatch slap would suffice. Just givin him sheet for complaining about being busted for something he knowingly did -this is not a chick support forum.
I got a ticket for running a red light yesterday. My passengers were totally pissed off as it was a bogus ticket, but they are cracking down in Temecula and a few people will be penalized who may not deserve it. I told everyone to shut up. They calling the cop all sorts of names. I believe that you can't talk your way out of ticket, but you sure as hell can talk yourself into a ticket!
No worries, I will send my lawyer to court for me. I never get points, the worst case is I pay a reduced fine. But I learned my lesson. ha ha sucka!! just kidding...I actually have been telling everyone to be careful about running yellow lights as they are cracking down...and so the ticket worked not just on getting me to drive more conservative (for a while atleast) but also got other people to be cautious and conservative. I would say that was one effective ticket...even if it was bogus. Merry Christmas! :)

Not at all...He pissed and moaned about going, then he got there late and pissed and moaned about having to park far away so he gambled on the firelane and lost---then pissed and moaned about loosing his gamble and called the guy doing his job a Bastard.........pretty simple to see what most are bagging on.

Understand, it's just that some seem to make it out to be right next to murder (ie son having seizure and paramedics can't get there). It just gets me how some pretty minor thinks get turned into major ordeals on this site. do you really think the conversation would go in the same direction if the story was told while sitting in the channel having a beer?

It is situations like this that are most likely to draw the cops. You have a large crowd at an event and a bunch of people ignoring firelanes. Higher chances of needing an emergency vehicle and more likely someone is parked in a fire lane. Calling someone a bastard without knowing them is just blowing off steam and as long as it is meant as such, no big deal.
Maybe nothing would have happened, but if an emergency vehicle could not get in due to you being parked there, it might devastate you emotionally and financially. They could also have towed you and you would have been a lot lighter in the pocketbook. My Uncle took my parents to a major rock concert because his daughter worked for the record company. He had the same problem and made the same mistake. He got towed, but on the bright side, they got to ride with the band in their bus to the hotel to start calling to bailout his truck.

Hey All,
Put me on record as saying Cops Suck! I live in a good neighborhood and before I got my Rottweiler my house was broken into twice in the same month along with four other homes in the neighborhood. No cops patrol the area because they are to damn busy setting up speed traps in the area to generate revinue for the city. Also I know several cops personally who speed all the time but don't get speeding tickets because it's common practice not to give another cop a ticket, what a double standard. We all have a choice where we work! Also a lot of cops are people who were crazy when they were younger and raised a lot of hell, another double standard. A lot can't get a regular job because they are too dumb or lazy (not all but a lot!). I fight every ticket if I am at fault or not, I say F&%# them! I know I will catch a lot of flack but the cops I know personally don't give a rats behind about you, your safety or the law! Power tripping A*%holes!

Think how you would feel if there was a fire.
And I'll bet that if you had found another place to park, and walked by the people parked in the fire lane, you would have had something to say like, " Look at those A## HOLES parked in the fire lane!!!" :hammerhea :hammerhea

I call Smith&Wesson or Colt and lately FN when I need help. No really when I need help I call my family and friends. The cops around here, or at least the ones I have dealt with, take real good notes and carry real big flashlights but don't do much else. Charlie Brown my Rotty on the other hand is all about action, he likes to lay around and eat donuts too but when the time comes he will kick some major butt, or bite major butt. I have found two torn shirts and shoe in the backyard since he's been on duty. Cops have their purpose I guess but I would rather wear my cape if I have the choice! If you are cop, that's cool, no offense was directed your way. Did you notice I prefaced everything with "the ones I know or have dealt with"?

Look at the bright side... The cop just handed you a $90 tax deduction. Every year I claim my tickets as a tax deduction, the money goes to the city or state so why not! This year i'm deducting $55 for a parking ticket and an unknown amount on the speeding ticket I just got Monday. Last years total $471 for crossing over the double yellow carpool line.

Sorry to hear about your bad experience with cops in your neck of the woods but you would be amazed at how many of them would lay down their lives for you when the shit hits the fan. It's not about the money it's about a deep comcern and caring for people that bring most to the job. Unfortianetly there is that small percent that leave a bad impression in peoples minds, making the profession look bad and give the others the bad rap. So really who are you gonna call when the shit hits the fan.....911?

Hey All,
Put me on record as saying Cops Suck!
We all know cops are not perfect but your life and mine would be pretty f'd up without them. Believe it or not there are a lot out there who just love to catch the bad-guys ;) (No I'm not a cop).
Maybe you'd prefer a military presence in your neighborhood?
