The compression ratio is one thing that scares me away. I need a lake motor..

What kind of fuel are you running Scott? Can you get away with running 91 octane pump gas?

I've been running Trick since the engine was built.
Probably not...you might get away with 100LL av gas. I know the CR is not very "user friendly", but hey, ya just gotta love that smell!

Nice buy for the cash............If people can't afford the money for fuel theres always golf.........My $.02
Squid. :frown:
Yeah, I don't get that part. Say you burn 50 gal. in a weekeng (I NEVER have) Race gas is what, $2.25 more a gal. than premium? That's $112.00. If thst breaks your bank for a weekend, you probably shouldn't be going anyway.
Oh well.

Lets do some simple math after the last post.
"Race gas is what, $2.25 more a gal. than premium?"
Premium is $2.25 a gallon
2.25(premium) + 2.25 more per gallon(race gas) = 4.50 per gallon.
4.50 x 50 gallons = $225 for a weekend. That is some scrim to throw out for a weekend in a Jetboat.
Aside from $225 in fuel, you have to be able to have access to it. Most people don't want to carry a 55 Gallon drum of race fuel to the lake. I would think that the hassle to carry it and its availabilty at the water is more of the issue.

Thanks uncle Tony, but my math was only accounting for the difference between pump gas and race gas prices, not the total. I'm saying IF you burn 50 gal, it only costs you $112 MORE to run race gas. Get it?? Some guys drink more than that in a weekend. I bring 20 gal with me, and fill the boat before I leave, and I always come home with gas...usualy at least 10 gal. It's no big deal to get a few 5 gal cans filled the day before I go. But I do see your point about availability. I have two places close enough to me to get it any time I want.
Thanks for your input...I think.

BTW...there's also some pretty good additives on the market.

Come on guys...you're not going to find a better motor at a better price. You sure can't build one for this.

I have found this piece of equipment well worth the $300 I spent for it 5 years ago. Thing works great and isn't that big of a pain in the arse. Fill up your boat and the caddy with race fuel before your trip, throw the caddy in the back of the truck, and you are ready to roll!

Guy's
That motor is solid!!! Knock some timing out of it run some NOS octane booster in it and run it all day no problem. Someone got's some shit to talk add 5 degrees of timing and some race gas and your good to go!!!! This motor was built by a guy who worked on Tony Schumachachers Top Fuel Motors!!!!! AKA Allen Johnson. You won't find a better deal anywhere!!!
