Since I'm already sick of winter, I hauled out some pictures from the Unlimited Hydro races last summer on the Detroit River. This was the 100th anniversary Gold Cup race, making the Gold Cup the oldest active trophy in all of motorsports. This year's race was the last time for Miss Budweiser due to the passing of Bernie Little and changing management at Budweiser. So I blew off work, bought a pit pass and here's some pics for you all. The full size versions are in my gallery.

Not sure who sponsors this one. The boats come so close to the wall that people get soaked.

Her's a shot of the Roostertail Club and the private docks used once a year.

Nice view of the Detroit Skyline and Windsor Ontario across the river. The grandstands are also only used once a year.

This is a cool shot, you can see the Coast Guard cutter and a freighter out on the lake.

The Jersey Skiff is the eastern version of a crackerbox but with more vee. They run about 100 with an alky small block.

The History Channel ran a story on PT boats last night, in the first few minutes they run footage of a Gold cup race on the Detroit River probably from the 30's or something. You can still see the landmarks on shore like the powerplant stacks. Unlimiteds are on their way out :( , GPs are more fun to watch  .

Jersey Skiffs have flat bottoms. No Vee. They run Gas, and no JSS ever hit 100 MPH, Alky or not.
FYI,

That would be Dennis the Menace Macy's lake boat and yes it runs 105 with a small block, admittedly not a class legal setup.
