Anybody use 5 blade props? (http://www.cpperformance.com/products/Props/mercury-5-blade.htm)
I've been reading about them and I like the idea of being able to pull my kids skiing at a slower speed.
Any thoughts on them?

I have a high five 24 Pitch that you can try out if you want. I would like to sell it. Let me know. FYI, the even number high fives have a smaller diameter for an even greater hole shot.
I love the 5 blades. They are super responsive. I currently run a 26.5 4-blade bravo and like the performance of that too. My dad has a 5 blade on his 21' Ultra and it kicks butt.

My only experience with a five blade was a Mercury High5 on a 19 Mariah I owned in the mid 90's. It was only running the V6 so performance wasn't great. I tried several props and ended up running the 5 blade. Holeshot was improved over any 3 blade I ran. Top end was down a couple mph. The thing I liked was it hooked up hard and never slipped. I learned that you needed to actually go up a size with the High5, 21" three blade meant 22" five blade, due to the smaller diameter. I would really like to hear some input on the new Merc 5 blade for performance oriented boats. I am currently running a Bravo 4 blade on my Advantage and can get some slip with it if I'm not careful and would like to try the 5 blade, but the current price of a new one has me wanting to hear some input before I lay down the cash.

I'd love to. PM with your email address. I'm not sure when I can get on the water. Holiday's and all. But, I'd love to test it out. What price are you asking?
Thanks.

I run a 4 blade 35 pitch 17 1/2 diam. and at 5700 rpm push 124 MPH with a big #6 roost (Looks cool I think) and a 5 blade 33 pitch 17 1/4 diam and at 6000 rpm push 127 MPH love the low and mid of the 5 blade its MUCH better would run it all the time BUT alittle more bow lift with the 5 blade (flighty in the ocean) and I use more fuel.

I picked up 9-10 mph at the same rpms all through the mid range with Hydromotives new PX5, went from a 30 labbed Bravo one to a 27 pitch 5 blade.

Hydromotives are kick a$$ props, but beware. The pitches are slightly different. For instance, a HM 28P is equivalent to a 29P bravo or 30P. HM are excellent props.

We've done some testing with the Hydromotive 5-blade. Sean (Pleansantcat) and Charlie (Blownboat) Had good luck with them. Sean Picked up 2 mph over a 32 Bravo but it was a handfull on the top end, kind of chine walking like a vee. Went down from a 31 to a 30 and picked up some more mph and settled down. Charlie used the 31 and picked up about 5 mph. I used the 31 and couldn't get the bow up with normal trim. When I ran the trim up to free the bow it was spooky, skating aorund. Motor wouldn't spin up either. I guess it depends on the hull. Borrow one first!!!
