I am finalizing the sale of my current boat and wanted to start planning my next .......
I will be putting these in a 27-29 v-bottom open bow/cuddy.
I currently have the following speakers
4 pair of MB Quart Nautic 6 1/2 coaxial brand new
2 pair of Mb Quart 6 1/2 mid? brand new
http://www.***boat.com/image_center/data/520/1077DSCN0337-thumb.JPG
I think they are part of a component set that I don't have the tweeter's for....sent some Quart's in for warranty service and instead of fix them they sent me 2 pairs of these because they no longer make the others.
What power should I be putting to them?
Out of the Phoenix Gold Octane's what amps would be the best fit for these speakers?
Where would you recommend putting the 6 1/2 w/out the tweeters..or can I even use them?
Will this be enough for a boat this size?
Now for bass....2 or 4 12's or 10's? pro's...con's? probably be rebuilding the rear seat as a box...same thing what PG amp would do the job efficiently?
I have 2 new amps currently that I can use they are Fosagate 1000.2 and a 800.4 will these work better than the PG's?
I plan on running 4 Optima Blue tops 3 for the stereo and 1 for the boat...enough?

I might have some MB Quart reference series tweeters for sale. PM me if you want them.
By the way.... MB Quart is going out of Biz. They closed down operations in Germany and are going to make everything in China, but it will take 7-9 months before they are ready to go again. Now they are just like most other speaker companies out there. Rockford owns the name MB Quart, but the product line will not be the same quality as all operations and mfg. are changing.
The MB Quart speakers you have are the NKD116. Get more for you next boat now if you are planning on more, before you can't find them anymore. They are great speakers and I don't think that they'll be the same from China. I am running those speaker in my boat and love them.

If you run 4 subs, you'll need more amps than the 2 you have listed, and in turn you'll need more than 3 batteries for the stereo.

I would put at least 100 watts to each of those Quarts.
With 600 watts for the components, 1000 watts to the subs will work. I think the JL W3's will handle 250 watts each.

If I put 100 per Quart the total to the components would total 1200 watts, did you mean 100 per pair? Would that change the amount the subs get?
How about the Fosgate's...should I sell them?"

I thought I read 3 pair (six speakers)...looks like I read it wrong.
Yeah...for the bass to keep up with that much components, you're gonna need 2,000+ watts.

Congrats on selling your boat. Good luck with the new one. I thought you were going to go with a deck????

Thanks...It's not done yet...looks good, but the money isn't in the bank yet if ya know what I mean. I had very little response over the past couple of months and bam all of a sudden I have like 4 people that are REALLY interested.
I was into a deck boat, but am a little scared of insurance since I'll be putting in over 800 hp and I'm sure they are going to catch up with deck boats eventually and if I have to pay 4k a year for insurance I don't know if I'll continue boating....
Ya got any tip on the sounds for me? What's the deal with your gennie?

I'm very happy with all my JL stuff. The amps play hard and heat hasn't effected them yet (I set up for HH there). The Honda 2000 is the way to go IMO. You will need the cascade inverter and I can get you a good deal on those. let me know what you need....

TheGreyGoose, please don't ask HavasuHangin what he thinks of Rockford Fosgate amps. I have them in my boat, and it hurts every time he talks about them. Actually, they sound great (now that they are dialed in thanks to Frank at CarToyz), but heat is definately an issue.

I have 6 pairs of the MB Quarts in my boat (NKD116) and I am running 2200 watts total to them, 2 JBL 1100's. They do start to cook a little when cranked all the way up, but no distortion. I agree w/ HH, run the power :D

Do you mean you are putting 2200 to the whole system or just the components.....1000 to the subs and 1200 to the others?

He means all of his components get the 2200watts....

dam...that's almost a couple hundred watts per speaker! How much can they handle?

In audio...the question is not how much they can handle...
...it's "how long"? :notam:

Here's a short list of 100x4(4ohm 12v) amps I'd consider...
Alpine MRVF900
Boston Acoustic GT-42
Rockford Fosgate P800.4
Zapco C2K4.0x
PhoenixGold Xenon 100.4
Audison VRX4.3
They ain't cheap though :D
Plenty more 75-80 x 4 amp I'd consider as well....
