Actually got caught in something close to that in my 22' Scarab about 10 years ago coming back from Catalina late one afternoon. Pretty wild! We were nosing thru about every tenth wave! Water wall a few inches thick would just run up the top deck and peel off the wind shield hitting who ever wasn't paying attention in the back seat at about eye level!
Word to anyone that makes the trip...............the later you wait in the afternoon the bigger the water gets.

That boat doesn't burn alot of gas. Now the diesel consumption might be enough to scare you. It's got twin V-12 or V-16 (option) MTU turbo diesels in it and will run upwards of 70mph. If you're taking that, I'm in. :D

Who said anything about trailering. I just lower the lift right here on the Tn river, go through 3 locks hand a left a Pickwick dam and hit the Tom Bigby Waterway, Head out to the Gulf of Mexico, down to the Panama Canal and up to Catalina :D

Powerboat did a test on that thing (may have been the 60) Bob Teague did the test, had surface drives. They had to trim the drives up and get the props spinning to get the dam thing to take off. I can't remember the price but it was several million (maybe 10?). Article was about 2-3 years back.

I believe it.....the things 20 feet wide, 4.4 feet of draft...those pictures are really decieving. Would be a kick out in the ocean at WOT....6-8 foot swells....air....I could so do that. $10 million....uh, no.

If you've got the time or even care to .. research the article. Pretty dam funny and awesome. The boat was painted gold!! and the seas were 10 + feet.

A guy at the river from my place has 2 38 Magnums [these boats have freeboard like no other]with big diesels and KaMeWa jets. He used to commute from here to Rivers Inlet [fishing resort] and wouldn't flinch at 10 footers.Ted theodoli's boats made for real water conditions. The 53 Maltese model is my all time favorite ,and there's a hull only for sale in the trader .For some handyman it would be a gift. Rare piece
