I stole this from Offshore Only, but the numbers check out on CNN. Even if it wasn't true, what's wrong with another reason to hate those pussies in France.
Saw this list on CNN for Countries contributing to aid for the Tsunami relief:
US $35 Mil
Japan $30 Mil
Australia $27 Mil
Saudi Arabia $10 Mil
Germany $2.7 Mil
France $136,000
Yep, that's right, a measly $136,000, thanks guys. That equates to 0.13% of just those six. All the other countries knock the US until they need us. And in spite of all that, we are still the first there and the biggest contributors. You're welcome rest of the World, be careful to not bite the hand that feeds you too many times.

Keep in mind that the US has been taking a ton heat from the UN over the past few days because of the size of their contribution. Even though it is the largest.

I think there are more than a few exceptions on this board that will not support the french. I for one.
One note for you Grey Goose fans. I had always thought Grey Goose was a french product. It is produced in france but has U.S. ownership. Follow the link for the story.

Try adding up the cost of flying C17's & C130's in and out loaded with supplies. That is what's going to really cost us all a lot of our tax dollars.

I think I heard today that the combined US private(20 billion from you and me) and public(govt and business) donations last year was approximately 200 billion dollars.....or was it 2.1 trillion.... I can't remember, but it was a lot....

Grey Goose Vodka Although the label says "Distilled and bottled in France," Grey Goose Vodka is 100% owned and operated by a US company, and therefore by the Boycott Watch standard, this constitutes a US company.

Perhaps. But wouldn't you rather have the hot stinky thankless work being left for some French asshole working for peanuts and have all the procedes of his toils going to a crew of US workers who are keeping the books, paying the bills, collecting the money and handling all the logistics of the company? ;)

Some of the richest companies in the world, that take advantage of the low wages in the area to make higher profits, have not "step'd up" with ANY AID...
Some of these companies CEO's make more per year that the entire US aid commitment....
Tech MFG's like Dell are amoung them....

Just think about how that money could help our teachers, police, firemen and paramedics in this country.
Hear, Hear!! add homelessness, unemployment, gangs, drugs, etc.
I know it's small in comparision, but what countries helped us out during the big hurricanes in Florida?? Although it is nice to help out, I think we need to get our own country in order before we rush around and help everyone else out.

Just think about how that money could help our teachers, police, firemen and paramedics in this country.
More money wont help them. There is plenty of money...just have to get after the people who spend it. Spending is the problem.
In 2003 CA had:
14% increase in population.
26% increase in revenue <-----that is a 26% increase!!!
40% increase in spending.
Yup, da libs know how to spend that money fast!! Is it a coincidence that most of the libs never had a real job or owned a business? You know the US Goberment had surpluses of cash until they introduced income tax? How funny is that!!
Sorry for the tangent....
Fock them French puzzies!!
The real issue is that the U.S. went around the U.N. in this whole deal...they are pissed off they wont get "their cut" of the aid and won't get any credit either.

I don't klnow where Frances original number came from. It seemed low for sure, did some searching on MSNBC and this is what they have;
France announced $20.5 million in aid Wednesday and said it was sending 60 tons of aid to Sri Lanka, Indonesia and the Maldives.
Spain on Wednesday announced the largest single contribution — $68 million. Relief agencies said Spaniards were depositing donations directly into bank accounts set up for tsunami victims.

Its this kind of thinking that has taken jobs from the American worker. You or I may not want to make that Vodka, but someone without another employment option might. And as it was pointed out, I'm sure that not all the white collar jobs associated with the production of that product are U.S. jobs. We are the strongest nation in the world, but we rely far too heavily upon the domestic goods of other nations...
Chris
BTW I heard we were sending over Michael Moore to displace disease ridden standing water in flooded urban areas. The total $$ value of this donation when one considers the expansive logistical support to move both Mr. Moore, and his superinflated ego should top over $43million :D
