Never heard of it. Seems like it would sure take up a lot of space though...

I've heard of some jet drag boats that are running a gear reduction box between the engine and the pump so they can adjust the pump load to run their engine at the RPM that gives them max HP.

so would you say this is good for jet boats?

I was looking for a small Over Drive to put on mine. That way I gould run the pump faster than the rpm`s of the motor.

It's true - I don't think I'm giving any secrets away by telling that the PGJ Risky Business runs an underdrive (gear reduction) box between teh engine and the pump, in order to allow the engine to reach it's HP peak. These guys know what they are doing, and have run over 135 mph in the quarter mile.

They are called z-drives and were made by Casale. They are like the Casale v-drive but the top and bottom shaft are not angled to each other. Also the input shaft comes out of the front case unlike a v drive that comes out of the rear case.

It would look like you use trasmission / over drive you get more rpm and/or take some load off the moter ( moter rpm 3000 pumprpm 3500or 4000)and went you want to ride and not burn alot gas. Rod NC
