I'm finishing up a little addition here in town for a retired couple. Since it was raining yesterday, I put up a 16' long x 2' wide shelf in their garage with the materials left over from the addition. Being they're retired, I figured I'd do it at no charge, no biggie. As I was finishing it up, they came out to start organizing the stuff the had on the garage floor. After a few minutes, Mr said, "Oh, here's our American flag, I think I'll put it up"
Boy, the sh*t hit the fan as the Mrs got immediately pissed off and said, "Don't you darn put that flag up on our house!!"
WTF?? I asked what was up with that?
she responded by saying "I don't support those Republicans and I'm surely not going to fly their flag"
I asked "isn't the Stars and Stripes a symbol of the country we live in and of American freedom?"
She said "Not any more"
75 years old and in that mindset. Is that the new mindset?
I truly felt like walking out right then and there.......

My wifes parents are the same way. Total socialist, they think the gov't is out to get them. Really far fetched stuff. I think it stems from the fact that they never once saved for retirement and now it's really biting them in the ass. EP, you missed the point. The old **** doesn't want to be a part of a country that gave her the right to live in peace, prosper and retire in relative comfort. Since our flag no longer represents her then she should leave and move to a country that more reflects her beliefs, thats why I suggested she move to N. Korea. If our flag is so offensive to her then she doesn't deserve anything that it represents. IMO she just pissed on everyone who died protecting that flag and all it represents. I didn't feel any different about this country when Klintoon was in office and I'm sure I won't when that old hide Hillary runs in '08. Even though Klintoon didn't reflect my political beliefs I still supported the office of President, the flag and the country. I didn't respect the man that held the office because he had no respect for the office he held. We live in a free country and that includes the right to leave and I fully support her right to leave, in fact I fully encourage her to to do so at once.

I am neither...moral or the majority but showing tit on network TV, [not cable] is over the top. I have seen my share of tits and have delighted in the sins of the flesh for many many years so the mere sight of a bare breast does not offend me at all. I just think flashing tit on one of the most watched programs [NFL Superbowl] of the year not only degrades the whole show but it shows no class at all. Do these people have no dignity? Do you think it was a "wardrobe malfunction" [yeah, right] or was it for the shock value? The FCC for several years has told the broadcasters in both radio and network TV to "police yourselves or we will do it for you, your choice". They chose not to and kept pushing the envelope and cried like little girls when the FCC came down hard on them by levying hefty fines for indecency.
