o/d damage report

Well I finally made it to the shop and the drive is all torn down..
Not as bad as it could be but it broke in a very odd place. the propshaft
broke. It looks like a lower gear chipped for some reason and a piece lodged in and flexed the shaft and it snapped at the only spot where you
dont lose your prop. So all new bearings and a lower gear set and shaft.
The upper gears show virtually no wear at all. So we believe it was a quick
chip that flexed the shaft enough to snap it. It happened at WOT
All in all not bad for 75-80hrs (hard hours)

Hey Troy I must have just missed you I was at gator marine this morning. I was talking to Carlos checking out a 2 sc drives on a pallet 1 had DON on it I know who he is. 1 had Lucky on it so I asked Carlos who is lucky he said Troy is lucky. I still can't understand how you didn't loose your prop. :eek:

well the shaft broke in the splines and there is a large tapered bearing that supports the shaft. if it broke on the other side of the bearing it all would have been on the bottom of the delta.

That's good the damage was minimal. Pretty decent for all the fabricating and machining you guys put into that :) Git 'er DONE!
