We don't have a camper, so we'll be tenting it.

malcolm
01-10-2005, 07:01 PM
I'd be interested in a cabin, if they aren't too expensive. I have a camper, but I hate pulling the boat with it on. It really slows me down on hills and sharp turns. :) Maybe we could pickup a tent and do that route, I guess what I'm saying is I could probably do whatever is popular. :D
For some reason I can't get the map to come up on their site!

We will definately be there but I would expect that I'll tow our travel trailer over (too old and fat to sleep on the ground anymore). We're planning on our son following us there towing the boat.

malcolm
01-11-2005, 08:25 AM
Yeah, I know what you mean John. I don't like the tent idea much either. Is Ian up for the drive?
Has anyone called them yet? The campground we stayed at last year in Moses Lake said that you could have one tent with each RV space. Just a thought.

jrork
01-11-2005, 10:04 AM
We're planning on heading out Friday night and fighting traffic as far as North Bend and then finishing the rest of the run on Saturday Morning. Should be a pretty easy drive that way.
Hopefully he's gonna get plenty of practice towing the boat this summer leading up to this trip.
We plunked in a new motor and clutch in his rig this last weekend so he should be good to go.
I haven't called them yet but looking at the rates, the water/electric sites are pretty reasonable. Cabins look to be about $60 or so. For that I'd rather drag the trailer up and over the pass.

malcolm
01-11-2005, 06:52 PM
That sounds like a solid plan, maybe I could take off early Sat. morning and meet up with you guys down there before you leave. Might be fun to convoy it over. :)

malcolm
01-12-2005, 06:42 PM
We stayed the extra day last year at Moses (remember, the one you didn't show up for?). :D

jrork
01-12-2005, 08:56 PM
I doubt we'll be able to get any time off. We're probably stuck with the standard 3 day event and the traffic.
We'll be huggin the far right lane going up Vantage hill so it don't matter to us

OK, I'm good to go. He was skiing last week, but he's back now. I got RV space 40, right in front of the marina. He says 41 would probably work for you John, you could parallel with your door facing the water. There is a 3 day minimum for the holiday weekend, I told him Sat-Sun-Mon, but you had to leave early didn't you?
He said if we want to stay together, tents could go in J I or H. Or if you'd rather be right on the lake, he said you could go with 75 or 76.

Okay, I'm in too. Nice guy. We grabbed site 41 and should be good to go. His only concern was due to our length he said it's better if I can get in before Malcolm. He says it's easier to jockey our rig in if nobody is in space 40.
We're going to arrive on Friday morning (2nd) and leave Tuesday morning (5th)

We'll be leaving Friday morning to beat the traffice and coming back Monday with all the traffic so we can sit on I-90 parking lot outside of Ellensburg.
Look forward to meeting everyone.

VernS & I are trying to get together at Crescent Bar on the Columbia River in the middle of June. Condos can be rented for weekends May-June. There is also a camp ground. We'd be hanging out on the Sand Bar half way between Vantage and Crescent Bar.
Anyone is welcome.

They have three condos to rent out. May - June is mostly open. Also the condos can be rented by the weekend, May - June. They only rent by the week July-August. The camp ground still has vacancies also May & June.
But, yes when there is a concert at The Gorge, then the place is packed.
Here is a link if you want to check it out.

Hey Ya'all,
Labor day sounds good, If I'm not halfway around the world again. Need to start working with the wife on how to tow the boat so I can bring the portable house over. I will make a reservation in the morning, and put leave on the books at work also. Which spot would be best for a 30' 5th wheel? Prefer to have the door toward the lake, and on the shore. Does anyone have a friend with a tow truck just in case the Draggin' Wagon doesn't make it over the pass?
http://www.***boat.com/image_center/data/520/2266MVC-019F.JPG
Chris,
24 June sounds fun, but will have my older kids also, So would definately have to the Trailer, and have the wife pull the boat. She may get a few towing miles logged this summer  :clover: :clover:. Will see how things work out.

Alright, we have more neighbors!
Your running an Edelbrock carb right? I couldn't get mine to run at all on the secondaries. Finally had to put my Q-jet back on. If it was still on there I would have pulled the lid and removed that weighted air valve above the secondaries. I'm pretty sure it was too heavy and not opening. I wished I'd thought to try it back when I was running up and down the river last year. Oh well, I'm actually pretty happy with the old Q-jet. I'm even thinking about matching up another one for my tunnel ram this season. That should be a good conversation piece.

Hey guys I just found this get together, and will make plans to make it. I have met Malcolm and Vern at Coeur D Alene a couple of years ago. I live at CDA lake now and will welcome anyone that wants to come on over to Idaho to boat. I have a 21 Laveycraft with a 502, and a gas engine blender that runs on Nitro. I will call for an RV site. How big is this lake?

Hey Eric I was just thinking of how to get a hold of you. Unfortuneately Blue Lake is kinda small, gets pretty crowed on the big weekends. We are having a get together on Moses on June 24-26. Chris, "1978 Rogers" is planning on coming over and possibly Malcolm, you should come over too. I'm sure we will have several others join us as the word gets out.

To answer your other question they do have cabins at the resort that can be rented. Just let us know where you are staying and I will update the list.

Okay, I've never been there, and didn't know if the "drought" would have an effect on it like it's doing to the lakes in the Tacoma area.

malcolm
03-22-2005, 07:06 PM
What drought!?! :p

Tahiti350
03-23-2005, 10:47 AM
Everyone is whiniong about the lack of snowpack, and how bad the "drought" is going to be this year, water rationing, etc. Didn't know if the lakes in that area were snow fed or what, so had some concerns about water level.
Was hoping Alder would fill up this year, but more expect it to be a big mud flat.

1978 Rogers
03-23-2005, 12:06 PM
I dought Alder will fill up. But you can still launch a boat. You just have to stay in the middle, away from the stumps. :D

malcolm
03-23-2005, 07:57 PM
Sorry guys, I don't worry much about water level in my river. As long as there isn't a bad minus tide I can still launch. If you don't like where the level is, just wait an hour. :)

Just an update for me, I've got a new set of pistons coming since I burnt up 3 of em a few weeks back. Still interested and should know in a few weeks if I've got all the bugs worked out of the new(er) motor now. I think I'm gonna go ahead and dyno the motor this time and make sure I find out what gas/timing etc I can get away with running and such (haven't done higher comp w/n2o before.)
Does anybody know if I wait till late May to make a reservation will the spots be filled up by then? Just don't want to commit to a long trip for us and not have everything lined out. I'll prolly stay for 3 days with the family and head on over and visit Iderho relatives afterwards and make it my annual trip back home if we go.

I would think you could wait but at the same time, the guy I made the reservations with just needed a $16 deposit to hold the site.
I figure if something happens that stops us from being able to go I'll just call him and cancel and let him keep the $16.
Anyhow, good luck with the motor and hope we can meet up at Blue.

Hey guys, I just got off the phone with Chris, so I finally got linked. We were over at Blue Lake for memorial, I spun the thrust in my boat, Big Fat Steve lost his steering, Teideman's Hallet (Big chev) ran well, GR's Big Chev Ranger ran well, Chuck's Jetster, Big Chev ran well, Hammers Olds 850 jetster ran well, both of my midgets boats ran well, I got a new crank from Jim Greens, and Jeff the machinist came over and installed new cam bearings at my shop for me. That was sweet, I didn't have to take the engine to him. I'll be running next week, we have reservations at Laurents on the end of the lake, for Labor day. For those of you who haven't been, there aren't a lot of beaches, the police are friendly, if you're respectful, and not overly hammered. It's a kid friendly place. I live in Edmonds, and frequent the Snohomish River, we have a bunch of fast jet boat pals, and the crowd grows bigger every year. We want to set up a trip to Moses/ potholes, and a trip to Roosevelt, over by Wilbur. I got my ass handed to me by a guy running an SOHC, Blown, Vee tunnel. It was great, and they are a super crowd over there. The Snohomish has a lot of sandy beaches, but is tide affected, the boat launch at Everett has a new LARGE sand bar in front of it, so we'll be launching at Smith Island a lot this year, or be held tidal hostage. I'm going to help Chris with his rig to get him running, Owen put a new aluminum headed small block in his eliminator this year, and is running strong. I don't know if Jeff with the jetster got his new engine in, and Ian from Monroe was preparing for a new motor as well. We'll have to take over a restaurant, or something to get more people aquainted. Pray for good weather! Matt.

06-11-2005, 07:16 PM
Sounds great Matt. Your idea of getting together is probably a great idea as well. Gives everybody a chance to hate me now rather than waiting tell Labor Day :D
Curious if baffles are needed for Blue Lake? I know what the law says but i'm curious if ya gotta have em to keep from getting harrassed?

Ok Matt, which boat is your's? We must have seen you on the river last year. I remember Wade's and Owen's boats. I was there the day Owen blew his 400.
I was sick when we checked out Rotary park over M-day weekend. I was wondering if the city would bring in a front end loader and clean some of that up if enough of us complained?

Well,
As of today I haven't sold the Tahiti yet, but it is still up for grabs. WE still intend to be at Blue lake, with or without the boat. We will be bringing our 3 yo girl and the Murf (Lab/English shepard). If nothing else I will brin ght big smoker adn be the designated beef burner  ..
Everyone play safe, adn a get together (soon) sound like a good idea. We will be on the road from the 17th thru the 23rd, and again from the 27th thru 4th.

06-12-2005, 06:20 PM
It's a good idea to run baffles on Blue. We got politely hasseled by the sheriff. Big Fat made baffles out of baked bean cans to passify the law, it actually worked, until they blew out. He has a snot filled 460. My boat is the 18' Hondo, white with yellow stripes. For those of you whom have been up the river for a few years, I'm the guy that got hit and sank 3 years ago. The summer before that I sank in Ebey slough, from a stern wash. Man those boats sink fast! Both times we dove and retreived. It took two years to complete repairs, and this year I changed the Ford for a Chev. I've got a calibrated decible meter, if we can get the regulations as to acceptable noise levels. By the way Tahiti 350, why are you selling, and how much? I want to organize a run over to potholes/ Moses Lake, but I don't know the park situation. We had a large gathering at Steamboat and the rangers were totally out of hand. One of our guys was in a wheelchair, unloading his van, the front two wheels were on the grass, so the ranger gave him a ticket. One other was walking from the camp site to our motorhome, he gat cited for open container on a public highway. The parking lot is a highway. It kind of ruined the experience. We try for private resorts, so we can actually relax. Like I said, hopefully I'll be running this coming weekend. Matt.

malcolm
06-12-2005, 06:44 PM
Hey Matt, I must have seen your boat at least once. We finally went around the slough late last year. It was a blast. Mine is the blue and white Spectra 18.
We're going to Moses Lake the weekend of the 25th, check out the Moses Lake thread.
