Good luck on the L7's behind the seat. I was looking at doing 10" L5's behind my back seat and it wasn't close, even the 8" L5's were too deep. Ended up going with a roundy round 10" Kicker and keeping my seat in the stock location, granted it's a Chevy. I think you're going to have to put the backseat up about 6 inches to accomplish what you want to do. Keep us posted though. :D

We have done quite a few superduty trucks where the seat was moved you can really only get about an 1-2 inches of space and keep it safe. We have done 10 L5's and they barely fit with moving the seat. The L7's are too deep. There are some pretty good woofers out on the market thet are a lot thinner than the L7's.

Riverbound, if I go with the round kicker comps do I still need to more the seat forward? Also how did you move the seat with the newer rear seat?

I did 4 10" Kicker CVR's and left the seat in the stock location. I don't know the difference between the seat room on the Fords and Chevy's, but I would imagine it has to be close.

Thanks jordan, I think that I will go that route. :D

these guys are right use the kicker comp CVR...You will not have enough air space for the L7's or the L5's..but the kicker comps will do u just fine..very clean and exellent deep bass..

It's not the airspace, it's the physical depth of the speaker.

yeah..we know it obviously wont fit...but that box in such a small box will not perform as it should..it would sound like crap..just a waste of money..

Your first post in this thread doesn't anything other than airspace. We know it won't fit because when I was setting my truck up I took brand new CVR rounds, L5 and L7 speakers in 8" and 10" out of the box and put them in my truck to see what would and wouldn't work space wise.
Who gives a shit about airspace when you cant get it in the truck without ditching the backseat? I don't need to know specs to know it won't work because the speaker won't fit because it's too deep.

And if it won't fit, what is the point of discussing it anymore and pulling up specs? Why not stick to something you are an expert on, like beating the cops and the field alcosensors? :D

We modify the seat brackets. The seat is mounted to the floor and where it mounts is mofidied.
There is a big difference between the chevy and ford back seats ( the ford gives you about 2inches more depth)
If you go with the kicker comps you will not have to modify the seat. But for that price you would be better off using a JL W0 it will sound better and handle abuse better.
I would recommend using 10's you can fit 4 behind that seat with no modifications and it will hit really hard (if thats what you are looking for)

If that's the case, you would have the room to clear an 8" L5. Mine was tight with the L5 and there wasn't room for any wood in the box. If you have 2 extra inches and have your heart set on :boxed: 's instead of :) 's, that might be an option for you. :D

I could have gotten the 8 L5 in your truck. Build a 3 sided wood box than fiberglass the back of the box to the back of the truck that will give you that little bit of depth you needed.

The speakers were right up against the back seat, as in tight, tight, tight. I opted for 4 10" CVR's and haven't looked back. It's all kinds of fun cranking it up and getting the people a couple cars ahead looking around. :D

4 10's is IMO the best combo fo most crew cab trucks. because it hits really hard but the 10's stay clean unlike 12's which will tend to sound a little muddy and 8's will get distorted when you try and really crank them. I am running 4 10 W0's in my superduty behind the seat with out modifying it.

Sounds good riverbond, now is that 4 10's sealed or vented? Since I haven't tried glass yet, can al n eds build just the box for me?

Sealed, and of course we can do fiberglass our service manager (darren) has been ranked as one of the top installers in the U.S. for the last 2 years running, you would be amazed at the work he is capable of doing.

I dont have the dimensions off hand but if you wanted to you could buy two "truck style" boxes and put the woofers in their in two seperate boxes. That would be an easy way to do it without having to build anything yourself.

Riverbound, how much would a fiberglass box for four 10's behind the seat would run? Would it be cheaper to do (try) it myself?

If we can do it with all wood you are looking between $150-$250. If we have to do it with fiberglass then $350-$500. It would all depend on which woofers we went with. It would be cheaper to do it yourself aslong as you know what you are doing, but this is n't something that you want to screw up, especially if you have to go with fiberglass. My installer and I have been doing fiberglass enclosures for almost 9 yrs. now, so we have quite a bit of experience using these materials. Here are some of the things we have done with fiberglass.

So let me het this straight then. I should go with 4 JL 10" in a mdf sealed box which does not require any modification to the seat brackets.
