I almost purchased a 24'Spectra daycruzer two years ago. The owner told me they were basically a Cambell hull, the head engineer from Cambell formed his own company. This makes sense when you look at both makes side by side. Originally posted by spectramike:

440Jetsteer,Bud Bailey used to work at Campbell boats but when he started at spectra marine in 1970 he designed all the Spectra boats except the 19 footer, that was a Rick Fowler desing[if I remember correct].The Spectra hull is totally different from the Campbell,ie;deadrise, running strakes and even the cabin shape. They look similar however, but it could be said for Hondo,Howard,Southwind and a lot of other copies. You can find some information in Hot Boat magazines about racing heritage of Spectras and Schiadas and not much else, hence these two boats had the best hull configuration and heavy layups for serious offshore racing at all.Sanger made some nice 26 foot models that disappeared alltogether.Bud Bailey just retired recently from Hallet[another quality maker]where he was responsible for there hull desings.
