1967 19' Belmont.. Any One Heard Of These?

I have a 1967 Belmont 19' V-drive 5 degree flat bottom boat. i am trying to lean more about the boat i have just bought. I was wondering if anyone else has any knoledge about these boats. cappablilities, how safe, ect... ect.. anything would be great. THANKS!!

I don't know about 67's but a little later they built some kick ass ski racers!!
They were built very solid and run well in the rough stuff! I think a few board members have them ,so I would expect them to reply sooner or later so keep watching!

it had a 427 "vette" chevy motor in it when i bought it, but the motor was pretty tired. so i am now currently building a 454 for the boat. that leads me to asking the question of how reliable of a hull it is so i know how much motor is too much motor. :) i t has a 12 degree (i think) casale V drive in it. im working on the pics.. will be more than glad to post them. the boat was stored in a climate controled environment and covered its entire life so the gell coat and boat it self is in GREAT shape. its orange and green metalic with black interior capable of carring 5 people. the original owner said it was used for competition skiing and was also used in some circle racing. the boat riges GREAT and feels very stable and very strong. the boat does not show its age at all.

I am not an expert BUT ! It is my understanding that BELMONT 's are able to take quite a lot of motor and remain rock solid! Only if a blower is in your future then seek an expert! With the boards being so slow now (winter)It may be a little wile before the real experts reply!

Hey C-Tail, are you absolutely sure that's a '67 Belmont? Do you have paperwork/doc's? Is there a manufacturer badge somewhere on the boat? I really would like to know because I've got a Belmont flattie at my disposal and it's of the same vintage...but we are unsure of exact year. Further, I am just fifteen minutes from you (Mtn View) and we can compare side-by-side in a couple months when things clear up weather-wise. Hull design looks similar to what we've got.
But look at rrrr's boat, his is 1967 also--not a Belmont--but appears much like yours in gel coat, hull design and interior layout:

Anyway, if you are certain that yours is a Belmont, then I'd certainly like for us to get our boats side-by-side and check 'em out in the spring.

p.s. They are built very rigidly and can handle mucho HP, assuming the overall condition of the hull is still in good shape. Perhaps on the heavy side, though.

1000% sure its a belmont. bought it from the family of the original owner AND it has the coast card plate and badges to back it up.. thats exactly what my belmont looks like! are you sure his ISNT a belmont??? very cool to see that other boat just like it.. sure lets meet up some time and compare boats!

oh yeah the boat looks a whole lot better than those pictures show.. its been raining and i havent had the chance to clean it up

Very excited to hear the Belmont Manufacturer confirmation. :rollside: We'll hook up soon.
Ours has several layers of paint on it and looks lousy...appearance is not our priority with this boat (not at the moment).

Belmonts were built in Fresno by Smitty and Lynn Weeks. The boat shop was on Belmont Ave hence the name. I have a couple of them at my place a 1960 20' http://www.***boat.com/image_center/data/500/411speed_boat-med.jpg
it is in sad shape right now but in line for restoration and a 1965 20' model that I'm restoring for a friend. Generally the boats were built very sturdy and can handle a lot of power. Congrats on your find it should be a lot of fun. Check the bottom- Belmont flatties were usually built with quite a bit of rocker in them. They also were usually custom order deals, each one usually came with a plaque that said "This boat custom built for (name of original owner)"
