I want to install an amp in my boat should I install a 4 channel for the speakers and a separate amp for the sub, or can I install a 5 channel. I have been looking at the JL audio 5 channel amp, is this my best choice.

Serperate amp for the sub is what I would recommend.

Just had a 5-channel installed in my boat. No issues.

It really depends on what sub and how many. I would say use two seprate amps if you want to run two subs, more power is always better,especally in a boat. Just my .02 :)
