View Full Version : The all NEW 28' Boss Cat from Conquest!

http://www.***boat.com/image_center/data/520/11065.jpg After about a year of tooling, Conquest has built the first all new 28' Boss Cat.
We'll have it a the LA boat show for everyone to see later this month. We're
excited to see what people think of it. Scott Kornowski did the tooling and
created the plugs and molds and even painted this first boat. You may have
heard his name before, he did the E Ticket molds and did alot of the Nordic
tooling back in the 90's. His work is beyond any words that I can think of.
It's got a brand new bottom with 2 steps in it and the strakes have been
altered dramatically from our usual bottom. The first time on the water, with
4 adult men and 1/2 tanks of gas, it ran 86 on smooth slow water and was
banging the rev limiter. This first boat is equipped with a Merc 525 , ITS box,
IMCO lower unit and a 28" bravo 1 prop. I figure it should run an honest 90 mph with another prop, and the right water conditions and the typical 2 adult
race edition! All with 87 octane and a warranty! The best part is the way the boat drives on the water, it never porpoised, it turned and leaned the right way, it planed quickly and flat, and it feels like a 90 mph boat should feel! Lots of cabin space inside too with opposing bench seats and a big bed in front.
Roln 20's recently saw it and here's what he said recently:
As for CONQUESTS new Boss Cat--I saw it a couple days after the first test ride-- if I had my check book- I would have bought it. The pictures do this thing no justice, its extremely clean lines, excellent tooling, and the word on the street (from Keith) is that its performance is phenominal. I loved the looks and the build quality, and am sure everyone else will as well. Keith you need to post some better pics of that thing, including that trick engine hatch- its bad ass."
"I stood there starring at the new Boss Cat-- it was absolutely beautiful. I can't express the smooth, sleek and bad ass look of this cat enough, and a very trick engine hatch. I think its a great lake/river boat and one that should be on many's shortlist. By the way, I can verify the GPS at 86mph, I got to hit the recall. So you can take that for whatever it is worth. Its gonna be a great cat, and a huge seller for Conquest."
Thanks Roln 20!
This first boat is availalbe as soon as the boat show ends. Anyone
interested, please call me for more photos, pricing etc.

This ride looks phenomenal! Love the lines and that hatch....well, SWEET is a good word for its new design.
Anyhow, are open bow/walk-through/mid-cabins in the works for this new hotrod?
Well done,

THANKS for the great comments and the support. I think it's killer but I'm a
bit biased. As for the questions that arose, yes we will be making these in
the closed bow or in the mid cabin--open bow configuration. As I said before,
these new Boss Cats have tooling that is second to none. There are so many little things in this boat that the photos don't show that will impress
you. Simple but well thought out little things all add up. I love the fact that
this new bottom is fast and the ride is smooth without porpoising etc but
to me, the attention to the details and the way that everything fits perfectly is what makes it such a cool boat.

Thanks for posting these pics and my quotes--let me tell you all, you will be impressed.
I'm just mad that I didn't get a ride...I told him I would write a post dated check on the spot...for 2008. I think that makes me a "cash" buyer- hehe :) :D

You are so right...this is my year. How soon I buy depends on my new business venture...look for me releasing something new amongst the Howard Boats at the LA Show (no, its not a new boat model and not a boat). Hopefully I can have something on order by summer. If insurance becomes friendlier...this new Boss Cat will be on my short list. Its gonna be a tought decision, and a lot of green on the table $$$,$$$.

Spectredave: yes it has a center sponson. That's what gives this boat the
ability to be a good family boat at slow speeds. Actually, the new bottom of this boat is somewhat similar in overall shape to our Top Cat deckboat bottom. However, with a second step anda little more height in the front,
it picks up a bit higher out of the water. also, the number, shape, size and
position of the strakes is completely unique and new.
Thanks everyone for your comments. After spending 8 months and close to
a 100K on a new boat mold, it's great to finally be able to drive it. But nothing is better than hearing that your peers and friends like it!
It'll be at the LA boat show.

Thanks, going with Mercruiser 525hp for power. Afraid the 600 hp will be too much $$$ for insurance. Should be interesting to see what speeds it will do.

http://www2.***boat.com/image_center/data/520/1106Dscf0535.jpg http://www2.***boat.com/image_center/data/520/1106Dscf0538.jpg Broke Richard really likes our new engine hatch. As you can see, the hinge
screws are not visible from the back side. That's because it is actually a double walled hatch (2 layers) with nuts embedded between the 2. This keeps the appearance clean and smooth looking. The height of the hatch
will take a whippled engine or a 600SC from Mercruiser. We put the bilge
blower vents in the rear corners of the hatch so that they are not visible.
More importantly, when parking at the river and the water is slapping the
sides real hard, there won't be any vent taking in water. and Yes, the hatch
is strong enough for your beer drinking brother in law to dance on! If you look
closely, you can see the words "Boss Cat" etched into the swimstep.
Way too nice for Broke Richard!

Nice epoxy coated bilge there Keith. Thats a good looking rig. I saw the yellow/blue one the other day in your parking lot. It looks fast on the trailer.... Fairly low freeboard compared to other cats in that size range, eh?
